In the 70's he was highest paid club act in North America. Anybody in that Era who saw him off the leash of TV knows why. A fantastic pianist who had a wonderful way with any song. Everything he did, he did good. Thanks for the joy.

Thank you Bob Harris. Jerry Lee Lewis was indeed a “persistent survivor”. A fantastic Country Music artist which isn’t always acknowledged in the UK. Inducted into the Rock’n’Roll & Country Music Halls Of Fame. As Jerry Lee himself would say “ just check my track record it stands for itself”. Regarding the press, Jerry Lee Lewis rarely sued. He said “ you write what you want about me, but make sure you spell my name right “. Thank you for your talent, artistry and those great live shows I was fortunate to witness, between 1977 & 2007.

That you Bob Harris for steering your comments back to Jerry Lee's music and showmanship no matter what daft personal life question they asked you. I think you have been taking lessons from Mark Hagen.

Love Jerry Lee Lewis, one of the pioneers of R 'n' R. Remembered for his electrifying performances and thanks to Jack Clements and Sam Phillips of Sun records gave him his break and set him on us. Yes he did have a colourful life but The Pumping Piano Cat will always be loved for his music and he was a great character. God bless him.

Attended Jerry Lee concert with Little Richard and Chuck Berry. They were not on speaking terms and performed alone. Rock on Jerry Lee Lewis.

@dennisesplin3285 , Jerry Lee & Chuck Berry we're always on speaking terms. Chuck would go to Jerry Lee 's dressing room & have a chat . they became very good friends !! Jerry Lee was also friendly with Fats Domino. --- also he did get on well with Little Richard.

A great tribute from Bob Harris, despite the BBC’s hugely negative reporting, especially on Radio 6 Music, which seemingly received a memo from the top to completely ignore this great mans legacy...... even Marc Riley was obliged to offer a disclaimer for programming a Jerry Lee track. The Beeb has been taken over by 20 something millennial workerati. Truly a low point in this formerly great broadcasters history. RIP Killer.....

Good old BBC, always looking for the negatives, the poor bloke just died.....Newflash - Elvis Presley had a 14 y.o girlfriend he didn't marry until much later, slight drug problem also, these guy's from the South lived that way back then, they can't be judged by today's standards.....Jerry Lee Lewis/ The Killer will be remembered for The Music alone long after we're gone

Funny how they just want to talk about the negative. But look at the musicians that have come up after him and they did just as much if not more crazy stupid stuff.

Typical BBC wokery. Bob Harris trying desperately to keep it on his incredible music and its world changing status, the BBC trying to keep it negative at all costs.

Hollywood Walk Of Fame??? 😂😂😂 Could she possibly be confusing this with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in the 80’s? What else would we expect from the BBC tbh?

Yes, Jerry Lee strayed away from God and led a very sinful life, but he came back to God two years before he passed. Lots of people prayed for him to be saved for many years. He repented of his sin. He believed in Jesus Christ, believed that Jesus Christ died on the cross for his sin, confessed his sin to God, and asked for forgiveness. He became born again, a new person. That’s what Jesus Christ can do for a person. Jerry Lee and his cousin Mickey Gilley, both, accepted Christ as their Savior and made Him the Lord of their lives and are now with The Lord in Heaven. Praise God for answered prayers!

Gary Glitter was a middle aged man who abused young children repeatedly, Lewis was a very young man who married within the laws at the time in the States. Not right by today's laws and morals but that was the law in the 50s.
