Scott, you did an absolutely beautiful job with this and such a wonderful tribute to Jerry Lee Lewis. I feel like some of the greatest entertainers were ones who have dealt with a lot of torment in their lives just like he did. I believe Jerry Lee's music was his outlet. His personal life may have been a mess, but his music was magic. It's legendary and will live on forever. We all have to separate the performer from the person (public life from personal life} and just enjoy the gifts he gave us. Music was his escape, and we are the ones who get to enjoy it. We were blessed because he was born. His music brought a lot of smiles to many faces and will do that for years to come. RIP Jerry Lee. Btw, I love this little cemetery. It's really beautiful to me. This is another thing I love about country folks, they are all so down to earth and seem to stay that way from birth to death. always keeping it real and never forgetting their roots💐

@@Gambler56 One of the best parts of Scott's vids about infamous folks, is the HISTORY of their lives. He is respectful and I don't know what kind of phone camera he has, but these scenes capture the beauty of the surroundings. If you aren't invested in a narrative about the people who occupies the graves Scott visits, there's always Wikipedia.

Dear Scott, thank you for this informative and respectful visit to my family cemetery. My grandparents are Stella and Lee Calhoun, who set aside this land for a family cemetery. Stella Herron Calhoun, Minnie Bell Herron Swaggart and Mamie Herron Lewis were all sisters. This is where Jerry Lee requested to be buried...with his family. He even picked out the exact place behind his daddy, Uncle Elmo. Judith, Jerry Lee's wife, is the one who left that Valentine card. :-) Over in the right corner was Frankie Jean Lewis Terrell, Jerry Lee's sister. All the Swaggarts are Jimmy Lee's family. My son, parents, and brother are also buried there. Some of those in the back part are old family friends of my Calhoun grandparents. My son, Ryan, works hard keeping the headstones clean, making sure the graves are neat and with new flowers, and has added lights on the graves and in the trees. It is so beautiful at night. Family is everything. Peace, Sherrie

Hello ! Sherrie Jacobs Mcmahon -Loved hearing from a cousin of Jerry Lee's ,i was hoping some family would comment ,being the Musical icon that he was,i wasn't expecting to see that his resting place was on a quiet rural back road in a small but neat country cemetery . i was also moved by seeing the gravestones of his young Sons and Brother ,i,ve read about his losses ,now seeing the stones,i felt them a bit too, poor Man! sorry for your losses too!

@@Donthecheese Thank you for your kind words. Jerry Lee wanted his funeral to be in his hometown of Ferriday. AND he wanted to be buried with his family. I was honored to be able to see that all of his wishes were followed. I was so glad to have been with him in his last days....to be able to pray with him and for him. I represented his Herron side of the family. If my Grandmother Stella and my Momma Maudine had still been alive, they would have been there. We lost a great one. My little family is leaving too quickly.

I was told that my Grandmother Mamie White (Miller) was the cousin of Jerry Lee's Mother Mamie. I do know that somewhere down the family tree we are related according to my first cousin's genealogy searches. I didn't know my Mother's side of the family because. My mother wasn't in my life growing up. I did have the Pleasure of meeting Jerry briefly in 2919. My father's side of the family was born in the New Orleans, La. all the way back to th mid 1800's. My mother's family came from Mississippi and the ones that are still alive today live in Jackson & Boggo Chitto. My grandmother her birth name was Mamie White & she married into the Miller family. If you have a family tree or know of the name Mamie White please let me know. We are also supposed to be related to the Swaggarts. Thank you. @sherriejacobsmcmahon2515

I loved Jerry Lee’s music growing up (in the 80s…yes, I was born like 2decades too late) and one year at City Stages in Bham, Alabama he played the main event stage …1990/1991 (?) and my Mom & I went to watch him and BB King. A woman said “oh how sweet, you brought your daughter to see Jerry Lee.” My Mom replied “No, my daughter dragged me to see Jerry Lee” LOL such an honour to have seen those legends. I was 13/14yrs old
