Merry Christmas and new years to the both of you! Thanks for the Bird history. I still enjoy my 2001 5 model when they still had banjo tuners. 😀

Hello boys. Happy Christmas to you. Why is it that some single pickup guitars, like a Firebird 1 and double cut LP juniors, just look so cool??

The firebird has the most "acoustic" sound of any electric I've ever owned. This video shows it off well.

FYI guys - the Firebird pickup is not a mini Humbucker. Not sure if that’s what Bob said or if I just took it that why but they are completely different. A mini Humbucker is just that, it’s a miniature version of a full size Humbucker. A Firebird pickup has an altogether different design with blades going east to west not pole pieces going north to south like in a Humbucker. This horizontal blade design doesn’t allow for many winds and produces a low output pickup that gives the Firebird its hall ark sound. From the outside the look similar but on the inside a Firebird pickup and a mini Humbucker Are completely different designs

I love my Firebird. I think the body thru design really helps especially acoustically. I often pick it up and play it unplugged and it just rings out amazingly. Plus you get to look down and see that weird angled cool headstock with banjo tubers while you’re playing. About the only thing I don’t really like about them is the way they sound lol. Not a fan of the Firebird pickup at all. It’s weird because I think they were some of Clapton’s best tones, and for cutting thru a mix they can be great. But playing alone I feel like it‘ a less articulate single coil or a Humbucker with no balls. It just feels short in both departments for me as far as sitting there playing by myself. I have a Firebird 1, I e thought about having it routed and just putting a Humbucker in there but I’m conflicted. On one hand at that point why have a Firebird, on the other hand why have a guitar that I absolutely love, never would sell but don’t often play because I don’t like how it sounds. Been kicking the tires on it for a few years now. Strangely when dialed in right it can sing. I find it needs allot of pre-amp to heat up the sound and make it more harmonically musical but I don’t find it takes full on dirt that well. It will make a great sound to my ear at least it only makes a limited amount of them. I love Firebird guitars, don’t love the sound the pickups make
