In this video we'll see Bobs latest edition to his layout, the Soo 2500, make a run on Transfer Run. We'll start off at Shoreham Yard, and end up at Cardigan Jct. Along the way we'll meet a few other trains and see other parts of his layout such as New Brighton and Shoreham Hill.
The layout is set how the Soo Line was in the summer of 1977. Everything you see here is how it would have been back in that era, right down to the buses and cars on the roads.
*If you guys have any requests for different trains to be shot, please let me know in the comments*

This layout looks so real, that I expect little scale people to start appearing at the engine terminal. Great modeling and weathering on rolling stock and power units. Thanks for sharing your layout.

I grew up less than a mile from the SOO Line Shoreham Yard. I was always chasing the trains coming out of the yard and up to Apache Plaza back in those days.

Fantastic video. I loved the MTC bus for added realism. 76-77 is about when they started to phase that model out. One thing that surprised me is the prominence of F units; I thought they were mostly gone by the late 70s. I remember seeing mostly geeps and SD units by that time. You were a lucky one if you caught many F units on main line freights. Anyway, terrific job! One of the best layout videos I've seen.

Realistic layout and great clip. Thank you for the post. The weathering on this layout is amazing. I remember this layout was featured on the cover of a past issue of Railmodel Journal. Have you thought about doing a "cabride" clip of the whole layout? That would be amazing. A Polaroid Cube or a newer GoPro are very good for this sort of stuff. Also, does Bob run a detour Amtrak train or any passenger trains at all? Thanks again for the post and thumbs up!

Looking forward to it. Keep em coming. If you do a cabride clip please make sure there's no people in the camera view and loud noises. So many layout cabrides on here get ruined by that. I subscribed.

Kudos to you Mr. Rivard! Your sound design is among the best I have ever experienced after watching a generation of train videos. Are you a professional sound engineer or did you outsource to a third party? My most highest praise. The sound really brings you into the scenes with the operation of the Soo.

Well! Mr. Hildebrandt, I must offer praise where praise is due. The sound design of your video is Hollywood quality. As a film school graduate I understand the long and involved hours with it comes to sound design. Your work is raising the bar among railroad videos and hopefully will inspire model railroad video makers to pay as close attention to the production as they do to weathering the scene.

Hey Bob!!! GREAT WORK HERE!! Love The SOO! This is the best footage I have seen out there! ... Nice Attempt with the sound Sync... You did Well in certain parts! :) I'm jealous... I would love to Model the SOO like this.... I don't have any SOO LINE HO Scale Locomotives yet... Well, I use to have 2 Proto 2000 SD60's in SOO.... probably 15 years ago but at the time I modeled Chessie and I sold them for Chessie.... Who has some good SOO models out these days...or are yours all custom painted? -Rob

I have heard of it, and seen pictures in the past, but never on the Soo. I know that B units had hostler controls to move them around the shop, but they couldn't venture out on the mainline without an A unit.
