I have to leave this comment. I have been in love with these videos for forever. I am now a Grandmother now. My Grandaughter is 9 and she has discovered her love for artwork and it is a natural talent that she has. My son is in the Navy and I have missed so much time with my two loves, but last night I had both grandchildren here for a "sweepova" as the 5 y.o. puts it. My Grandaughter asked me which part of a painting do you paint first, the trees or the sky. She was referring to my canvass on the wall. Soooo, I cued up Bob Ross. It was like magic, she was totally mezmerised by these videos. It was a joy to my soul to see this magic take place for the first time. There will never ever be another Bob Ross. He blessed so many people in more ways than he ever knew. I am so glad that we can watch these episodes on KZbin. Thank you for sharing these with the people who love Bob Ross and his natural talent for painting "Happy Little Trees" and beautiful nature. Broke my heart when Mr Bob passed away. I was crushed. Many Blessings to all of his family as they help continue sharing this beautiful talent to millions of others who will love him forever.

I like how Bob Ross doesnt say that “you should do this...” or y’know he doesnt specifically instruct on a technique, he just goes on his own ways in showing how art should be. He just goes like “You want your canvas to be alive!”

Teaching the spirit, the mindset, rather than individual techniques... while at the same time demonstrating the kinds of techniques that can produce remarkable results using fairly simple (not necessarily easy-to-master) motions. That, and displaying compassion and encouragement to the complete strangers watching. I can see why he's so well-loved.^^

I remember back in the early '80s telling my art teacher that I liked Bob Ross and thought he was an excellent painter and an artist. He rolled his eyes and sneered at me, as if Bob wasn't any of that and therefore not worthy of the slightest recognition. Needless to say, my art teacher was a dick.

that happened to me too they think he is a sell out they think that what he is doing is a disservice to the art community i think they are just jealous it is hard to make a living as an artist hard to '' put a happy buck in your pocket '' why judge the one guy who makes it big Bob was not only talented he had charisma to draw your attention in so you care about what he is saying, he was a teacher by nature very well known around the world, more popular today than many artist hanging on museums walls and my art teacher was a bitch too , always staying aloof from others because she thinks she is superior

I did one painting years ago. I brought it to work to show my friends and co-workers. One of the couriers (I worked in a hospital) wound up buying it for $50. I wasn't even selling it, but once he found out it was my first he was very insistent on buying it! Apparently he has quite a few of his friends "first" paintings, almost all of them have gone on to have very successful careers in art, some have their own galleries! He still has mine hanging with the others. I'm hoping to get back into painting these. Who knows maybe I'll show mine in a gallery too! Thanks for the inspiration Bob! It's because of you that the artist comes out of ALL of us!!

Maybe. But also, if you notice, during the first episode there seemed to be a LOT going on in the background which was a little distracting. You could hear people doing things like the studio had simply been given this tiny space to kick-start a tv series that may, or may not, have even worked out but there were other things going on around it. So perhaps they used music to mask out the background noise.

I'm an artist of FAR less talent than him, but not being overly careful, and blurring, both go a long way. MOST budding artists make the mistake of trying too hard, being too deliberate or hesitant which absolutely shows in the work. Fast strokes with commitment is the best way to go. Your confidence will make the work look more deliberate than it was. That's really the most important thing...do it with confidence even if you're new and barely know what you're doing.
