Күн бұрын

Bob Ross fans! It’s ‘time’ for some happy trees, and we’ve got just what you need: pxlfy.me/BobRo...
You’ve seen him before - he's the quiet soft-spoken guy with the fuzzy afro hair painting mountains and trees with big brushes in a matter of seconds. Bob Ross is public television's most beloved personality and here is the behind-the-story look at his journey to becoming America's pop-culture icon.
This docu-story reveals the personal life of Bob Ross through the loving accounts of close friends and family, childhood photographs, rare archive footage - what you know: his unwavering dedication to wildlife for example, and what you don't know: Bob Ross' straight hair, his fascination with fast cars, and so much more.
You'll see rare film clips of Bob Ross with mentor William Alexander, and the very first rough-cut Joy of Painting episode. And you'll learn how one little TV commercial to advertise local painting classes slowly turned this gentle-mannered fellow from simple beginnings into a viral phenomenon that continues to allow millions around the world to realize their dream of becoming an artist.
Enjoy fascinating interviews and insights from some famous Bob Ross enthusiasts too, such as talk show pioneer Phil Donahue, film stars Jane Seymour and Terrence Howard, Chef Duff Goldman, and country music favorites Brad Paisley and Jerrod Niemann.
Bob Ross: The Happy Painter is presented in three parts: The Man, The Television Artist, and His Legacy.

I'm 16 years old, even though i wasn't alive when Bob was, he still is a big part of my life. When i'm going through a tough time or i'm having some form of panic attack or i'm over thinking a situation or just not happy , I always put an episode of his show on and he calms me down, he's one of the only things that can turn an awful day into a better one, his happy attitude and calming voice just gets to me and watching him paint is mesmerising to the point that the problems go away. You're not just watching an art teacher when you watch him, you're watching someone who feels like a close friend do something that they love to do. We need more people like Bob Ross in our lives, he just wanted the best for everyone and everything, he will not only forever be remembered but he will forever be missed.

This man deserves a real honest to god film adaptation to his life. He is one of the greateset inspirations of the modern era. More people need to experience his dedication, and sheer love of his craft. It shows that an honest love for your own hobbies can be a driving force; for anyone who just takes the time and risk to achieve their most precious dream, can infact reach it through not only hard work or dedication, but through the love of what you are creating. Bob Ross, you will always be the greatest inspiration in my life you didn't let anyone or thing tell you that your dreams cannot be achieved. I take my hat off for you sir you deserve more than you have gotten, even though you never wanted it.

Currently here in Los Angeles, The Joy of Painting is broadcast three times a day. I try to watch everyday if I can. I love it when he looks into the camera and says, "God bless my friend." at the end of each program. Also when he has a good chuckle, as he beats the brush on his easel. What a great man.

I never realized how many millions of people Bob Ross touched in his career and in his lifetime, and I am absolutely astounded after watching this documentary. From the time I was three years old in 2004, I watched Bob Ross every Saturday morning on PBS fully believing that he, one of the most impactful sources of my inspiration and creativity, was alive. Little did I know that he had in fact already passed before I was born. A few years later when my mother broke the news to me, I palpably remember being absolutely devastated and breaking down in tears because I fully intended to meet him some day at a painting class. I wanted to tell him in person how much he meant to me and fully express my gratitude. He was and still is one of my greatest sources of hope and inspiration in the world of creativity. I credit Bob Ross with showing me a way to genuinely appreciate even the simplest details that truly make life beautiful. Now, 15 years later at the age of 18, I have not adopted painting as a hobby, ironically enough, but I have developed a passion for drawing. I will forever treasure what Bob Ross has given me and hold it dear to my heart. This is just my two cents, but while I was watching this documentary, I shed tears multiple times like I'm sure many others have and will. I hope Bob Ross's legacy lives on for as long as possible. We all could use a little dose of Bob Ross's hope and purity. It's timeless.

I had the same experience one guy spoke of in this film. I had never ever painted and ordered the Ross kit and canvas. The first time I had the knife up to the canvas, all ready to start, my hand was shaking and I had butterflys in my stomach. Amazing how nervous I was, and I laughed, thinking how funny that was. Took me a little bit to calm down. After that I was ok. The second time I really created a nice mountain. I was so shocked that I sat there staring at it for 10 mins, fascinated at how great it looked. Never thought I could do it, and succeeded! Thanks Bob Ross!

He said once, during one of his paintings, that he'd been a mean son of a gun at one time until he discovered painting. So I guess in a way painting really is magical, because painting brought him peace and he didn't feel mean any more - so he explained, with brush in hand. The man certainly did have magic paint brushes. I think we could use a few more Bob Ross's in the world...

I had to laugh at my own experience in trying to paint like Bob. In all of his episodes, he totally forgot to tell me that my vcr would get oil paint all over that on/off button as i punched it constantly to rewind and repeat many instance. Also, in all his episodes he forgot to tell me how to clean up that pallet when done and most important, he forgot to tell me that oil paintings take about a million years to dry so that you do not smudge them. :-) I absolutely adored his show and watched it as often as I possibly could when it first came on. I truly wish that all elementary and junior high schools would have classes of such to allow all kids of any racial group to participate and learn, not just painting techniques of Bob Ross, but also the humility and open-hearted message that all people are important and the abilities and dreams of each are unlimited; not just in painting, but in all walks in life. Bless him for his contribution and bless those who helped and supported him during his short time on earth. I salute him as a great American who actually showed by example of what that means to be.

I've enjoyed watching Bob for more than a half century. The single most important thing Bob brings us, is that art isn't just this or that, but what you believe it is. His method of painting allowed anyone, to express what they saw within there own imagination. This is art, not the formal process of the masters. Art is creation, no matter how you express it. This is the primary lesson Bob has taught to me over the years. Most importantly, that philosophy can be applied to almost ever aspect of our lives. Believe in what you do, love what you do, and with a little effort and determination, you can succeed.

I feel like Bob would be absolutely blown away and humbled by how popular he is now. I think he’d marvel at something like the internet being the big reason he’s had such a resurgence in his popularity. This world especially now would be so much better with him, but also in a way, he never left. His message was by far the most profound thing he gave to the world. A way of finding confidence in yourself as long as you’re willing to practice and don’t let mistakes (aka happy accidents) get in your way, to just roll with what happens and not freak out. Genuinely applying this to other aspects of your life besides painting and you’ll be more successful. It’s like another way of giving yourself the permission to “fail” so that you can learn from it and grow.

I was 11 when Bob died and to this day I remember well when he was alive. I’ll never forget how my grandmother stood up in church and gave a heartfelt speech in his honor the week that he died.

Late September 2020 here, and I firstly want to thank the Public Broadcasting stations for continuing to air The Joy of Painting. Although I have never set brush to canvas myself, I feel enriched after watching Bob turn a blank canvas into a work of art, all the while affirming his viewers' value and abilities in his soothing, joyous, and therapeutic demeanor. The man was - nay, still is - a treasure, and I wish that he was still available for me to thank him personally for sharing himself with us all for so many years. Rest in peace, my friend.

Two truly nice guys who were loved by everybody: Bob Ross and Mr Rogers.

Oh, MAN! PBS missed an opportunity....I wish Mr Rogers had taken one of his strolls across the "neighborhood" to Bob's place to spend some time with him and his painting. Would've been the most pleasant show ever aired....

@@les4767 nice comment Les. Let those who dislikes either of those real men be tied to a tree, they're eye lids sewn open with a carpet needle and dental floss then get skinned alive...

I love that man dearly. I unfortunately never got to meet him, but I feel like I know him all the same. I’ve watched his shows all my life. I wish I could’ve met him so I could tell him how much he’s helped me. You see, I suffer from severe anxiety and depression. His shows, really his calming voice, his advice and inspiring outlook on life has helped me more than he’ll ever know. I love how gentle, loving and compassionate he was with animals. I hope he knew how loved he was and still is. He made me feel like I could paint.
