Big thanks to Bob Ross for teaching us all how to view and listen to the landscapes Personally, Bob’s videos helped me through difficult times when I also started to paint to process emotional blockages and depression. Landscapes communicate and express so much healing and immanence that made a huge difference. Darkness makes the light be visible: don’t kill all the darkness. Just believe in yourself and you can do anything.

You have to practice. Also you have to use the technique properly. Trying to do what he does with ordinary acrylic paint on a dry canvas will never work.

I wonder if Bob ever put a tree next to another tree to give it a friend and they ended being stuck together in a loveless, sexless relationship that totally backfired. Like it started out good with the 1st tree noticing the 2nd, and being glad that he wasn't alone, but then like over time that 2nd tree started acting like a dick. Cuz it's one thing to have a friend, but it's another thing completely to just have a random tree invade your area just assuming that because you're both trees that you're automatically gonna become and stay friends. I'm sure Bob had the best of intentions...and we didn't really have all the precautionary measures like backgroundcheck.com back then that we have today...but he really was playing it pretty fast and loose by just introducing some random tree into the life and personal space of another tree. ...I wonder how many trees are just sitting somewhere on a canvass right now in some darkened, dusty storage room, trapped next to a total asshole tree. It probably woulda been smarter to give a tree at least 2 or more friends, just in case one of the trees copped an attitude...it's always harder for someone to be a dick when they're around 2 or more people, cuz then it's not just the one person's opinion, or the rude tree can't just act like it's some kind of personal issue. That way the other tree would have like a 3rd party to vouche for the 1st trees assessment. Or if it really is just a case of hateration, the 3rd tree can step in and let tree #1 know that he's projecting onto the 2nd tree. It would also work good in the case of a tree developing some kind of addiction, or destructive compulsive behavior...it's hard to stage an intervention with 1 person/tree. That just turns into the blame game.
