So many reasons for this. At the top of the list you will find the fragmentation of media, availability of real-time news distributed globally, the fact that anyone with a smartphone and internet connection can report, analyze, comment, and build their own community. The fact that people are addicted to their phones means that content must now be mobile first - no longer TV, radio, newspaper, magazine. And we haven't even got into the costs of traditional newsrooms and production teams versus the minimal production and costs of being digital first. Also important to note that it's only in the last 5 - 7 years that the average phone allows for video capture, editing, production and deployment which would have been unimaginable 20 years ago. And lastly, you can chalk it up to the hubris of traditional media companies. These changes have been happening under their noses for 20 years and they never took the threat seriously until it was too late.

I’m 60 years old so keep that in mind with my comment. Some of my all time fav guys are on this podcast. That said, the sad laments for the good old days is well sad. The world evolves and sports journalism is not exempt. Moving from a newsprint to digital format is just reasonable economics and what todays reader wants. Too much of grumpy old men talk here and these guys should be better about it. Finally, I was surprised and delighted to hear Bobcats voice on the podcast. What a pleasure and keep improving Bobcat. You will play golf again one day soon.

Sport Journalist and media like other media gone woke and most people want that crap . Plus so called sports journalist are afraid to make waves with the players on field play in fears of losing availability. This John included has a lot of these woke fools . I say that sadly but I used to enjoy Johns work
