I haven't been to a Big Boy in years. That was a cool 😎 car show 👍

Spent a lot of time at Bob's. Always get a Big Boy Combo with Blue cheese on the side for the fries. That's the way we use to roll back in the day and it stuck with us whenever we go there. We miss having a lot of Bob's but we have Burbank and Northridge so that makes us happy. Loved all the history you showed on the start of Bob's.

Thank you! I've never hears of blue cheese for fries before - I'm intrigued! I'll have to try that next time I'm there!

Late sixties and early seventies my family would go to Bob's. Me and my sisters would try to climb upon, and then just sit on Big Boys feet. It was also my youthful introduction to weird food. My Dad would order things like the Patty Melt..... I mean *who* would want a open face Hamburger? .... on square bread? ... my dad. I remember asking, what's a BLT? Weird. But the weirdest thing was why anyone would actually want 'bluecheese' dressing on a salad. Thanks for the adventures, and memories. ☺

Thank you!! That's so funny about the patty melt - I posted a photo of me with Big Boy on facebook, and my brother-in-law replied, "Did you get the patty melt?" Kind of wished I had. Overall, the food is really good. When I ate inside (my 1st indoor dining experience in over a year!!), I got the open-faced hot turkey sandwich. But instead of putting it on white bread, they put it on garlic bread!! So your comment about weird food is spot-on. Garlic bread, turkey & gravy is definitely weird!

@@JasmineApple I had to reach deep into my memories trying to remember what I would order. It's been almost fifty years since I've been there, and would have been ten or younger. I had to do my 'Winnie the Pooh' impersonation.... "think, think, think" ... Bob's Big Boy...... the best Club Sandwich ever. At the time it was weird only because it was all so new to me. Definitely a classic to go along with the Car Show. Mmmm garlic bread with turkey and gravy sounds delicious, though, open face? Yea, it probably looks weird too. 😂 Mmmm..... Bacon, Turkey and Ham in a triple stack... that's the only "Club" I've ever really enjoyed. 😃

Excellent video....yep...Bob's invented the double-decker hamburger. And the "car hop" concept was invented in LA! I remember in the '70s..even into the '80s, getting the Big Boy Special, BB burger, fries and a side salad on sale for $1.99....what a deal!
@JasmineApple2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Wow, $1.99 - they don't have deals like that anymore!

How far from Don Cuco’s in Toluca Lake is this? Looks awesome for a look-see when we visit L.A.
@JasmineApple2 жыл бұрын
It's about 1 minute by car or a 5 minute walk. Don Cuco's is at 3911 Riverside Drive, & Bob's is at 4211 Riverside Drive. It's definitely worth a look-see! Enjoy your trip to LA!

Great video. I thought all the Big Boy Coffee shops were gone. There was a bunch of tv commercials a decade or two ago showing the big boy statue geting blown up with dynamite. Great to know at least the original is still there. I must make it a point to go and patronize the car hop service. Thanks Jasmine. BTW, do you remember another old classic coffee shop, Googies?
@JasmineApple3 жыл бұрын
Bob's Big Boys have definitely fallen out of favor with the public, but I think there are about 200 or so left. I don't remember a coffee shop called Googies. I googled it, and it looks like the original Googies was demo'd in 1980. Sounds like it had a lot of history, though! Did you ever go?
@trexinvert3 жыл бұрын
@@JasmineApple Definitely, my dad would take me to Googie's in monterey park all the time. It had a very "space age" 60's architecture similar to Norms, Ships or the LAX restaurant theme. Imagine a name like Googie's. Now we have googles(internet search engine) that is common vernacular. It was ahead of it's time.

Wasn’t there a Bob Big Boys on Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood California. Please let me know, and thank you.
@JasmineApple2 жыл бұрын
I couldn't find on on Hollywood Bl, but I did find an old Bob's Big Boy Jr. on Vine St. I couldn't get the cross street, but Vine intersects Hollywood Bl, so that could be the one you're thinking of. It's not there any longer. Thanks for watching & taking the time to comment!

@@JasmineApple thanks for replying to my request. Yes it was at Hollywood & Vine, now I remember. Are there any Bob's left. Nice chatting with you.

If it hadn’t have been for the Austin Powers film, I’d never have known about Big Boy. I assumed it was simply made up for the movie.
@JasmineApple2 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen Austin Powers! I didn't know Bob's Big Boy was in it. But, yes, it's a real place, & they used to be everywhere.
I work for the DA's office I consider that modern day slavery
@JasmineApple3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I don't understand your comment. Eating at Bob's Big Boy is modern slavery? Or the car show is modern day slavery? Or the car hop service is modern day slavery? Can you please elaborate?
