Matthew Lillard screaming I wasn't ready for this from the bottom of his soul is a haunting sincere portrayal of grief in that very moment. I watched this at 14 after my mom passed and this movie changed me forever. 14 years later I still cry when watching long live heroin bob and Steve o

genuinely think this is the most I have ever related to a film in my life. I remember watching this when i was 16 thinking that it was all about being a punk... but when your older you realize you wont change the world by dressing like a freak, taking drugs and listening to music. you have to do it the hard way.

@@LoseControlForDeath I 100% agree with you. Some people get a big ego after they take psychedelic drugs and think they know more then people who haven't. These people are really annoying and complete posers usually. Psychedelics are supposed to make you realize you aren't better then anyone else you're just another person walking on the big rock we call earth an what you do for the short time we are here doesn't mean much at the end of the day and you should be humbled by that fact and treat people with respect and treat the planet with respect. Humans have already caused enough damage we don't need cause any more then we currently do day to day. We should treat our fellow humans better too we treat people very poorly. We ridicule and look down on people to make ourselves feel better about our own failures in life. We justify bad things we do just so we have a reason in our minds to keep doing them.
@AllanBlack

He didn't become a poser. In an earlier scene he realizes that true Anarchy is impossible cuz everything has a system, so he lost his dream of a lawless, rules free world and that was a big loss for him personally then his best friend died. The entire reason he went punk was because of bob so when Bob died he had nothing left. There was no point in him continuing on with a punk rock lifestyle without Bob. Plus he knew he could still cause trouble within the system.

Revived from an OD This scene hits hard. For my best friend and brother when we watched this we cried cause this was easily us. But I’m alive. But we got a ton of Bob’s out there that need love. Kids who think need to be heard and acknowledged. Angst and frustration can be directed in such a killer way. This movie just kicks in all the right ways.

One of the most heartbreaking endings ever. I still cry with him when he finds Bob dead, and cry even more when he says in the end he was nothing but a poser. That cinderblock of real life smacking him in the face is the most relatable thing I've ever seen in a movie. There's a famous saying that "Youth is wasted on the young", and it rings so true. We always realize too late how great we had it and what potential we had, which we just wasted cause we didn't know any better. Sadly a lesson you never learn from anyone's advice, we always learn it from cold, hard, cruel life. I love this movie so much.

I dearly beloved friend from the neighborhood of Long Beach, Ca passed away recently. He was a really good man. A true fucking punk rocker. Showed most of us what crust punk was back in the day. Saw him every once and a while and every time I saw him he was withering away like a neglected plant that was once full of life. I honestly believe it was his bullshit circle of friends. Big take away. Don't do drugs. Check on your friends and get them off the bullshit. Inspire them while inspiring yourself to do better. Start working out and having adventures in the wilderness with them. Most importantly, do not hesitate to ask for help if you yourself need it.

I never thought this movie would resonate so much with me as an adult. This kid who was a bully and troubled kid in middle school loved this movie but failed to see the message. I discovered this movie through his MySpace page. I was a “dweeb” as an underclassman in high school and got turned onto the indie scene in in the 2010s. My best friend in college was really into the indie scene and we used to have moments like this with our favorite music and movies when we were in college together and hangout with friends between exams. He’s the reason I work in finance now, we lost him tragically at age 26. “And that was it… He fell… and I went on…” Grew up and working towards an MBA now. Lost touch with everyone I used to be friends with from the Indie scene and building my career in finance now.

Also I love the "Mike and Eddie are coming, so it should be a good game." when you realize Mike and Eddie were characters earlier in the film played by Jason Segel and Adam Pascal respectively. That's why Eddie was at the funeral; Eddie grew up with Bob too. The fact that those 4 got together that night to play D&D but ended up as punks (or a mod in Eddie's case) means that night was transformative for all of them. I'm assuming Mike isn't at the funeral because he's off answering his environmentalist calling. The details and layers in this movie upon repeat viewings is really cool.

I personally had a friend who was just like heroin Bob, he only drank, and literally the same exact thing happened to him at a party while I was in high school, I literally watched my friend die, and one of my friends arms while I was crouched down right next to him, and it wasn’t until I saw this movie when I was 23 I’m currently 24 but this movie made me open my eyes to the life I live in the people I surround myself with. Also Rush is awesome I saw rush with my dad when I was 16 years old when Neil Peart was still alive. It was fucking extravagant, i loved it. RIP, Cameron Carper, and RIP Neil Peart.

when i was 19, i was living in a 'flop house' like this. me and my best friend, with 4-5 random people crashing there any given night. the world was our playground. life had 0 stress, constant parties, fights, girls, crimes, rebels blindly running into an adult world. i'm sleeping on a couch we found behind a dumpster. was out partying late the night before (like every night late). i get a loud knock on the door at like 11am waking me up. i go to the door, and it's an old woman in church clothes. she asks if my friend lives here? i say uh, yes, he's sleeping whats up? "you need to wake him up. and tell him his dad died last night. drove his truck off a bridge. i'm his great aunt.". from that moment, everything changed. he grew up 10 years in the next hour. and i sat on a couch with two ounces of shrooms below me, drinking keystone lights, trying to comfort my friend as he cried out in terror. not realizing the 'punk' 'bro' phase of teenage years had ended. somehow everything was different for my friend, and ultimately me. it was a defining moment in my life. i focsed more on college. i even shaved my head and got into like 'frat bro' lifting, popped collars, and molding myself to best fit into the corporate world within a month of this happening. i always think of this scene as parallel. the future called, and i became my republican lawyer father.

🥺🥺🥺 *FUCK MAN...* As someone who has walked in on one of my best friends after overdosing, I bawl every time seeing this. I literally just cried while frantically screaming "NO NO NO FUCK NO OH MY GOD NO FUCKKKKK WHYYYYY?! NO YOU CANT FUCKING DIE NO NO NO NO NO!!!" 🥺🥺 Called 911 immediately after no pulse and blue lips. started CPR after throwing 3 glasses of cold water on his face and slapping the SHIT out of him/trying to wake him up. The medics got there. After three shots of Narcan, I knew he wasn't waking up. I accepted it. I collapsed on the floor. Covered in his vomit and his blood on my shirt. 😭 I asked them PLEASE try one more time PLEASE. I was begging. So, they gave him a fourth shot of Narcan....and guess who started to breathe. My friend is now 3 years clean. He apologized to me every day for about the first year for putting me through that trauma. I told him to stop saying sorry, and just show me you wanna live again. No more dope. And if you relapse, fucking tell me. I'll be there for you. I'll never give up on you. You have a beautiful heart and seriously is the most intelligent people I know. But he also had scars and stab wounds on his heart that only time could heal...and time wasn't fast enough. So the dope helped with that. I wasn't even going to visit him that day. It was totally on a wim. I was driving downtown (Detroit- where we live) and decided to stop at his loft after picking up some pizza that we both like. Walked in (I had a key.) Saw him like that... But he's alive. I'll never forget that day. The worst and best day in my life and probably the biggest emotional rollercoaster I've ever been on. If you need help, please get help. You're worth it even if you don't see it yet. You're worth so much more...❤️

I'm so, so glad for you both that they listened and gave him that last shot 💜 we don't spread that information enough, that sometimes they'd need more than one or that it can even reverse or wear off up to an hour later and they OD again if there's not enough. My love ODd and I believe got three, maybe four shots in the ER to bring him back. His friend he'd driven home just HAPPENED to come back out after nodding out his damn self and found him, and drove him to the hospital ON FUCKING HOLD with 911 the entire drive. He was gone and back again in about 30 minutes, before I knew anything was wrong. I was at home, baking my best friend a cake for her birthday and just got a feeling to answer my phone when the unknown number called (The hospital room phone) and the first thing this mf said was "I'm gonna be a little late" 😂 burned 30 minutes to the hospital with clothes and blankets for him and the ER staff were surprised I was his wife not his sister or friend or something and made it very clear they'd have rather not bothered with him 😒 heaven fucking forbid addicts be real people with loved ones and jobs and reasons for use besides just having fun. I'm so proud of your friend for getting sober and of you for carrying him through. You're a good person, and you both deserve the best 🫂💜

Lol imagine watching clips of movies you've never seen and then condescendingly calling the uploader "champ" because you're upset you spoiled the story for yourself. That's like going to a library and randomly opening up to the end of a book and then complaining that the library doesn't have signs telling you to start on the first page. What a dweeb you are.
