Great Britain is the collective name of of England, Scotland and Wales and their associated islands. (So a Scottish person can be British etc 💁‍♀️) It does not include Northern Ireland British Isles is purely a geographical term - it refers to the islands of Great Britain and Ireland (including the Republic of Ireland) and the 5000 or so smaller islands scattered around our coasts. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. This is a political name, for the union of all 4 countries. Each are still countries in own right but collectively form a sovereign state. I live in Glasgow and have to say I am soooo happy for Lawrence, and especially happy to hear her saying she’ll be based in Scotland after this. Having her as a figurehead of the local drag scene after her win will do amazing things for the queer nightlife and the Scottish drag scene will flourish and blossom fiercely, so I’m very excited to see it!

London is not the centre of the universe. Anyone who's ever met a patriotic Scottish person knows what Lawrence means when he says he's not moving to London. Read your history girls. A HUGE swathe of Scottish people want nothing to do with London and England generally because of still unresolved tensions going back centuries. Why do you think we've had a vote for independence already? A proud Glaswegian queen like Lawrence is clearly fiercely loyal to Scotland and her hometown.
