Look at John Little's book detailing all the fights Bruce Lee had behind closed doors. John Little also mentions a time when Bruce Lee offered a Joe to a street fight out of anger and Joe Lewis backed down. I suggest you watch John Little interviews on YT, John is a Bruce Lee historian who has some great testimonies.

@@StripeyR I appreciate a Brit, having so much enthusiasm for America's martial arts juggernaut, Bruce The Dragon Lee. & it is year of the dragon this year. I've always liked Bob Wall & all, but there's definitely some embellishment going on in that video. & I appreciate you posting it, because I've never seen it before. It's kind of like, Bruce wasn't around anymore, so let me exaggerate my skill in comparison to his, type of thing. I was surprised at the fuck him comment. That caught me off guard. I also think there's some jealousy in the mix too. Bruce was a very impressive individual, who changed the martial arts world. What he did by his age, is insane. I'm sure Bob, & all the other martial art contemporaries of Bruce, had some level of jealousy. Just to digress for a moment. In my opinion, Bruce invented MMA. People argue that MMA is a sport, but it didn't start out that way. UFC was originally a fighting contest with minimal rules. People forget that. MMA was already developing in the octagon, when it was still a fighting contest. I like to think of JKD as a particular MMA style that Bruce created. MMA wasn't in the martial arts lexicon when Bruce was around, so he just called his fighting philosophy Jeet Kune Do. But to me, I think it's more accurate to say, JKD is a style that was tailored made specifically for Bruce, utilizing MMA philosophy. But, it wasn't a style set in concrete. If Bruce discovered new methods or techniques that were superior to what he was doing, he'd incorporate them. In other words, JKD was an open minded style. & very much MMA, in the original UFC context. So besides his impact in cinema, his contemporaries also had to contend with a guy that completely innovated martial arts. Having said all that, I don't have any ill feelings towards Mr. Wall. I understand his behavior in that video, but it was disrespectful.

In some ways, Joe Lewis talking shit about Bruce Lee is useful in proving how good Bruce was. Not much of Bruce's fighting / sparring was ever filmed. There was the Bruce Lee Long Beach demo, but that was 1967 with Bruce not being at his peak as fighter. And then there's the ETD fights with the extras which were filmed but never released. Many Bruce Lee detractors say that most fight stories about Bruce are from people who were fans or people who already liked him. But Joe Lewis, being a mixed bag with Bruce, was often living in the shadow of Bruce Lee, and many times has talked crap about Bruce. Fast forward to 2021, Stephen Thompson a Karate and MMA fighter is interviewed on ESPN about Bruce Lee. Very candidly, and almost accidentally, he talked about his conversation with Joe Lewis in his later years before he passed. Joe told Stephen Thompson that Bruce Lee hit him the hardest. That's crazy to think about. Joe had mentioned many times that Bruce hit like a heavyweight. That is different than this rare chance admission, that Bruce not only hit like a heavyweight, but hit the hardest out of all the heavyweights Joe had fought. So you have a skeptic admitting Bruce hit incredibly hard. The KO power at Bruce's weight class would be insane.

What did Gene say about Bruce that wasn't true?
@chrisbach15338 ай бұрын
Wall talking BS here having no idea that after this Anna Capri's footage would come out exposing that rather than blocking the kick, he in fact got hit with all of them. Bruce had him stepping out of range yet still caught him every single time on the chest. Showed how fast Bruce could close the range (this was written by Dawei Lee Fight Channel, all credits to him). Some things: Besides Jackie Chan, Wall claimed also he hired Angela Miao, Jim Kelly and Peter Archer for ETD. The reality is he hired nobody. You can read many accounts from the ETD producers, Fred Weintraub, Paul Heller, Robert Clouse, but also from Hong Kong cinema historian Bey Logan about the movie, and Wall hired nobody. Funny is he always said "That's Peter Bennet i hired him"...he said "Peter Bennet" in multiple interviews, but the real name of that guy was Peter Ian Archer. The original choice for Williams was an african-american actor named Rockne Tarkington, but for unknown reasons he never showed up to the filming. And the original choice for Roper was William Smith, the guy who played Conan's father in "Conan The Barbarian" (with Arnold) in 1982. But the producers felt he was too tall (6'2"=187cm), and Bolo Yeung would look to small (5'6"=168cm) against him in their fight in the end. Bey Logan spoke about all of this in certain interviews which are here on KZbin. After Tarkington and Smith fell out, Kelly and John Saxon were hired, and they were chosed by the ETD producers Weintraub, Heller and Clouse, not by Lee, Wall or someone else. And i think it was Kelly who asked if his buddy Steve Muhammad Sanders could be in the movie too, so he got a small cameo in the dreaming sequence of Williams going back to his Dojo and his Sensei. And some other thing which gets rarely mentioned: In the late 80s, there was a scandal journalist named Albert Harry Goldman. He made a career in writing bad stuff about deceaced ViP s. He did it first with Elvis, then with John Lennon, and Bruce Lee was the next on his list. Goldman needed one guy who knew Bruce personally...and he found this guy in Bob Wall. Wall was so full of himself, and he confirmed to Goldman some very private things about Bruce s private life, and so Goldman did put it in one of his articles. Of course Bruce s friends and family were very angry about that, because they thought Wall was a friend. Shorty after, the lawyer Adrian Marshall (who was according to Tom Bleecker the lover of Bruce s widow, Linda Lee-Cadwell, for about 10 years) went to see Wall at his office. Marshall put a business card down on Wall s desk. Do you know from who? From Joey Orbillo. Orbillo was very angry and Marshall said to Wall: "If you ever do that again, Joey Orbillo siad he s coming to you and punch your face in!" Wall was afraid and backed down. He then told Marshall he didnt speak with Goldman and was on a ski trip during the weekend when Goldman said he spoke with Wall...but Goldman had Wall s signature. This just underlines Joey liked Bruce very much and they were close friends. And it also shows Joey never took these point karate clowns (Norris, Wall, etc.) serious, and he had not problem to threaten Wall, and Wall sh..it in his pants when he heard Orbillo wanted to punch his face in. With all the people (Wall etc.) who spread so much lies and nonsense about Lee, Orbillo was definately a true friend of his. If you attack someone in his professional life, do it. It was definately a cheap shot and low blow by Wall. I dont know what Goldman was up to, but he wrote some very dirty things about Elvis and John Lennon, and i think this other ViP name Lenny Bruce was also on his list. I think Goldman s goal was to claim among other things that B. Lee did hit his widow Linda and abused her physically, and that he did similar things with actresses like Nora Miao and other female actresses from Hong Kong. But because of his stardom there, they were all quiet. So basically he wanted to say Bruce Lee was a kind guy like Harvey Weinstein, and that id...iot (sorry RiP but...) Bob Wall allowed Goldman to interview him (Wall), and Goldman did the interview like this: Goldman: "Ive heard Mr Bruce Lee was a violent man / abusive towards women / etc. etc." Wall: "Yes thats true." I cant prove it was like that! But dont matter what or how it was, but it was something way below the belt line. Goldman was never up for postive things. He made a name for himself putting deceaced ViPs down, he did similar things with Elvis and John Lennon. His full name was Albert Harry Goldman (1927-1994). You can see him in the 1993 documentary "Bruce Lee - Curse of the Dragon", which is here on KZbin, and he has a Wiki article on himself. Goldman about Elvis: "He was a pervert and voyeur". And i wouldnt be surprised if Goldman thought the same about Lee, and it was his intention to publish it. But he needed semeone to confirm it that knew Bruce personally, and he found the fool und unloyad "friend" Robert Alan "Bob" Wall. Only so much: Wall was never a true friend of Lee! But he made career out of being his friend. And seeing it from today, i wished Orbillo would have punched his face in back the day! Wall would have deserved it for speaking with such a swine like Goldman! You can attack someone in his professional field, in Lee case be it martial arts instructor or actor, bu to attack someone in his private field, thats a very critical thing to do. You [Stripey] can find former Lee-Historian George Tan speaking about it. Type in the searchbox: Bruce Lee Tracking the Dragon Part 3 and the interview s gonna show up when Tan speaks about it. Watch it, you wont regret it. Maybe you gonna do a video about this rare account from George Tan too. Since 90% of Bruce Lee fans dont know about that incidient, i mean Wall spoke with such a swine like Goldman, and Orbillo threaten Wall to punch his face in, and Wall sh.. his pants.

Wall was fortunate to have been in 2 of LEEs movues nobody knew who the hell he was. And little Lew was made a better fighter after training under Lee. BOTH have passed on BUT! even though BLiis gone also he is still the GOAT!!!!!!!!!! 🙏

Coming from the martial arts world myself, one thing that I have come to realize is that a lot of these guys have tremendous egos. It seems that none of them want to admit that Bruce Lee was better than they were. After he died they all jumped all over Bruce Lee in every way possible as it became popular to talk tremendous amounts of trash about Bruce. You would have thought that now that most of these guys are old that they would have come out and admitted that they couldn't beat Bruce, since they never achieved the notoriety that he did and never will since it's too late now... It's really sad though, because the truth is that Bruce could have wiped the floor with every last one of them.

It’s funny in a way because we both know how they are lying. At least Joe on was honest about a lot of things unlike all the other guys. Still don’t know why they talk shit about Bruce.

Great video mate, Have you seen Bruce Willow's Podcast with Bob Wall? Bob subscribed to the John Ford philosophy of "Why give them the truth, when you can give them the legend" Bob's appearance on the BW Podcast is pretty cringey and hard to sit through, he takes credit for a lot of the casting on ETD, film locations, he even disses Jim Kelly a few times. According to both John Little & Matt Polly - Bob invited himself onto the set of Way of the Dragon as he was business partners with Chuck Norris. Both Little & Polly have stated that Bruce was pissed with Bob blagging his way into a job. It is important to remember that Bob Wall sold his Karate Gi from ETD about 15 times to make a few quid! As for Joe Lewis it's worth checking out the Kung Fu Genius' podcasts with John Little & Matt Polly regarding Bruce's Real Fights. Both authors speak about Joe's complicated history with Bruce, there's the story about Bruce pulling Joe for not crediting his training sessions that helped Joe win competitions, and also the story of Joe showing up at Bruce's home after Joe's wife claimed Bruce made a pass at her (only to realise his wife had set him up), there is also the story of Bruce straightening Joe out after Lewis injured Herb Jackson. Also it's been long rumoured that Joe had always been bitter after losing the role of Colt to Chuck Norris in Way of the Dragon, the reason it was due to the clash with Bruce. Joe lost out on a potential Hollywood career that Chuck enjoyed whereas Joe gave seminar' s under the banner of "What I learned from Bruce" Could I suggest a follow-up video raising these stories? Keep up the excellent work mate! Mark

I never believed anything that spilt out of Bob's mouth. He changes his mind like the weather. I saw that interview a few years back. If there is an afterlife then I'm willing to bet Bob is creeping round Bruce 😂😂 That Game of death comment is unbelievable 😂😂 I think he was jealous of Bruce if the truth be known. Have a great weekend brother Stripey 👍 🙏

I think a lot of Bruce's associates (not what I'd call a friend) were jealous. You, too, have a good weekend, bud 👍

Still photos are no way to judge someones skill. The photo captures you in mid movement and it often looks like your hands and feet are in the wrong position, but when you see film of the same scene it suddenly all makes sense. Bob knew with Bruce's speed he couldn't touch him, and they were only playing around anyway, so it wasn't serious.

If bruce had lived to find any of this he would have beat the shit out of ball wall

It’s funny because Joe backed away when he went over Bruce’s house looking for a fight and when Bruce had enough of his bs he said let’s go, Joe backed off and walked away. So it’s amusing hearing this but also annoying.

Quite surprised by this as Joe Lewis was very complementary about Bruce's ability in interviews. Joe was obviously a legit fighter but Bob Wall was just riding the wave of the inflated statuses that these karate point fighters benefitted from in the 70's. He's clumsy and off balance most of the time. He looks like he could be fairly tough and strong but as far as technical ability, Bruce was on another level to Bob. I see much better karateka every week.

No-one ever spoke badly of Bruce Lee when he was alive, so why the trash talk now? even Jim Kelly spoke very Highly of Bruce Lee, and without 'Naming names' _Bob Wall, Chuck Norris etc) he said Bruce Lee would have kicked all their asses whilst asleep.🙂
@NathanSander7778 ай бұрын
Joe Lewis came around towards the end of his life paying homage. He loved Bruce. I’m sure Bruce wasn’t going full force either. Why commit if it’s not a real fight, and he still has a movie to shoot? In the video footage, it looks like they’re rehearsing a scene.

Great comments, Stripey. Spot on! You hd me cracking up several times. Nobody is interested in anything he did if Bruce is't in the shot. That's why he made up that BS about Lee being in some of the shots of his fight scene in Game of Death. Sick. Bob Wall was Bruce's Uke a few times in films, nothing more. I noticed he became downright insane in podcasts especially as he got older. He started believing the crap he was spouting.

Marvel Comics magazine " Deadly Hands of Kung Fu "In the Bob Wall interview he is upset in the fight in Enter The Dragon. It's very negative about Bruce. Behind the scenes at the end of your youtube footages is just practicing. Thanks for showing this. At the end Bruce isn't here to tell the truth .

Hi Stripey, like in my previous comments, RESPECT, its people such as Bob and Joe and there are others as you know ( Alive today ) that have their opinions on Bruce and what they think would have happened in a REAL FIGHT and who would have won etc! I thought I knew a lot about Bruce until I started reading WRATH of the Dragon by John Little ( Absolutely a must for Fans of Bruce ) very much an eye opener in my opinion and has left me with the opinion that Bruce was a Fighter to the highest caliber and people have to get their heads around this and understand the difference of competing to rules compared to using the tools in a real fight to defeat an opponent in any ways called upon ( Read the Book, it explains a lot.. )..Bruce was, as Han in Enter the Dragon put it, Your skills are extraordinary!. I do believe Bruce was teaching us techniques in his movies along with his philosophies, adapting his own styles and changing whenever he needed to, based on the type of opponent in front of him. There is no one today that is showcasing these lessons on screen in movies and I do believe, that from Wing Chun to Jeet Kune Do he would have changed his style again and again would he be alive today. Others on platforms such as KZbin have as you say, opinions are like arseholes, everyone's got them, from Video Games where Bruce is Fighting Van Damme / Seagal etc to others in various forms who say they would have won Bruce hands down! it will never end and 50 years from now people will still have their opinions. All I ask is that people be respectful of a Man that gave us some amazing movies, with amazing fight scenes and philosophies, that new generations today are fans of, can that be said of Bob, Joe and others?. No one can hold a candle to Bruce in my humble opinion when it comes to fighting. I highly recommend the book ( Wrath of the Dragon )to all Bruce Lee fans, you may be shocked by some of the facts, possibly change the way you think about the Man, I for one would like to know, not the martial artist, Fighter or actor, but was Bruce on a mission to prove something? reading the book made me think, was Bruce looking to change the way westerners thought about him and that he wanted / demanded their respect and through his frustrations and anger made him push himself to be the best in all aspects of physicality and showcase this to the western world?. in his movies and philosophies, he mentions, emotional content, not Anger, but yet he was the first to get into a fight instead of possibly walking away from some...What's your thoughts Stripey after reading the book, did it leave you with questions about Bruce the Man and based on what others thought of him, were some scared of him due to his anger and him not walking away from fights when he had nothing to prove, was he like this with his close so called friends and loved ones? so many questions...Keep up the good work, its always appreciated and so many unanswered questions, the Journey keeps getting more and more interesting👍

Of course, there was no sparring match going on there. I came here after watching two guys interviewing Steven Segal in Dubai, where he said how sick he was of the lies being spewed against him by the likes of Gene Lebell and Bob Wall, whom, like you said, I had never heard of either. And, like you said, there would be a million people who would like to blow up that picture with Bruce Lee on their wall. Only, I'd have said 6 billion, rather, because who in the world has not heard of Bruce Lee! What an expose! I always love fans of the greats who do the tremendous work of research and publicity of the life and works of their idols, who can no more speak for themselves, whoever those greats may be - Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, and in the case of Britney Spears, even fought for her freedom! What an expose! Thank you. You have done it in such an apt, yet dignified manner. Anyway, both Gene and Bob are six feet underground now, as Bruce Lee and his son Jason, have been for a long time. Great tragedies! I'm sure Bruce Lee would have appreciated you as a friend!

Lewis is no fucking better. Years ago (back in the 90's) he was pushing the lie that he too confronted Bruce Lee at his home, but Bruce was hiding behind his wife? Then after a huge blowback, admitted Bruce was ready to fuck him up and that he backed down from Bruce. I read all of this in a Black Belt mag in the 90's, along with the retraction from Lewis, the coward, himself.
