Boba Fett, the infamous intergalactic bounty hunter, has tracked his next prey into a dusty saloon in the outskirts of a remote space port. In the shadows of the busy space bar the hunter confronts his target’s three sinister henchmen. Who will blink first?
The Twelve Parsec Stare is a Finnish Star Wars -inspired short film with combining the Sci-Fi and the Western genres as its ambition. The non-commercial, non-profit project was funded entirely by the production team and the film has been made from start to finish in the duration of 2015, including the week-long filming period.

Dallas Van Winkle Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it never started out as being a trilogy in the first place. It was referred to as "The Man With No Name Trilogy" for marketing purposes later on, but as far as I know, the movies aren't really officially meant to be tied, they just used three similar main characters, played by the same actor with - for most part - the same clothes. And some of the actors who played characters who ended up dead in one of the previous films return as new characters in a later film, etc.

I've always said that the best parts of Star Wars are distinctly western. Jeremy Bulloch said he felt like the man with no name as he donned Boba's cloak. Boba is said to have "spurs" and you can hear them as he walks in ESB. The Han - Greedo shootout is a distinctly western scene. I hope more western tropes are used in the future of Star Wars, I truly feel that it is and should remain steeped in Western mythology.

Fantastic stuff. Fett is not a hero, he's a bounty hunter and probably "Lawful Neutral" on the alignment chart. Some people try to make him into some kind of hero and others say he's aligned with empire but he's really not, he's just a guy who's good at what he does. If there's one small constructive criticism I can give it's that maybe the guys at the table overacted slightly, little too much twitching. Sometimes less is more. Loved the bar tender though, very subtle.

@@yugen I know I'm like, 5 years late, but Lawful doesn't just mean obeying the law. It means having a personal code one will not break. Batman is, in this sense, Lawful Good. He only has one rule, but he won't break it. Boba is similar. It's been established he has a code (I don't actually know the detail myself) but he follows it. This is a good example, where he has a rule to not kill innocent people, perhaps, and so holds the gun with his boot instead of shooting him. A True Neutral character would have simply executed all three.

There was a great mix of Star Wars adventure, with the old school Eastwood Western suspense. The costumes looked great, and I love how you incorporated the early Fett ideas such as the slinged pistol and poncho! I really hope this is nominated for some type of award in the future. The thing about Boba Fett that i find so interesting is how a character was created around him by the fans. Watch the old movies and he is just a guy in a cool outfit. But the fans have made this really cool lore around him that was so popular, it even got him and his father to have a small part in the prequels. I hope that Disney continues this by making one of the anthology movies about him. It could be really cool, like a western set across the galaxy after his escape from the sarlac pit.

My god, this is 7 years old?! This is timeless, if you ask me. Alot of the camera work and movement of the character were spot on like Episode 4, 5 or 6 were shot (the whistling Droid in the beginning and his head turning, for example). The whole thing perfectly encapsules the essence of WHAT made Boba Fett such a great character without as much as ushering even 1 word. Intimidating, ruthless, mysterious and a badass that knows how to increase his infamy (letting that one guy live, by "disarming" him with his Boot, while winning a 3v1. The scene at the table as a whole, the camera angles and the quick takedowns were quite frankly phenomenal, especially the "smoking barrel aftermath" perspective from the top. Simply perfect, and completely ahead of its time (Book of Boba Fett, Mandalorian, etc)

This was fucking beautiful. Everything from the props & costumes, the atmosphere & camera work, right down to the music. The fact that you can convey a story without words is always +1 from me, and it looks even more badass here in the western bar setting. That along with the fact that Boba was a silent badass in the films, so it fits perfectly with his character. This 9 minute scene could easily be canon.

Three years later and it's still just so damn good! That moment at the table with everyone fingering their blasters, no one daring to shoot first, it was just so brilliantly timed and edited, and that droid near the start was one of the most charming things I've ever seen. This is without a doubt my favorite Star Wars fan film, bar none. Brilliant work, guys! I'm in love!

RuinedFilms I have to say you did a great job. It's very awesome. You captured the feel of Boba Fett badassery. I love the connections with "The Man With No Name". And that extra scene at the end with Jawas made me laugh a lil' bit. This is what a Boba Fett movie needs to be,in my opinion.

March 2022....and I just came across this??? Awesome work!! I agree with a commentator, loved how Boba stopped one guy from drawing his blaster, but did not kill him.....as he did not see him as a real threat.

So there's a couple things I have to say, first being the sets and costumes. You absolutely nailed the environment of the cantina and the atmosphere of Star Wars as a whole. There were little details here and there that really made me appreciate the video for what it is, for example; the posters showing that the Empire is recruiting and the pod racing going on in the background, and also the fact that you included that the people at the table were playing some pazzak. The costumes of everyone where almost spot on, for one minor exception, nothing too big to make a deal out of, but at 3:28, the man spitting at the Jawas, it almost seems as if he's wearing normal clothes that you could see anyone on the street wearing, but then again, there aren't many options when it comes to civilian clothing in the Star Wars universe.Next, the Boba Fett costume was magnificent, almost spot on, but there was one minor problem I had with the outfit. I'm not sure if the "cape" that is wrapped around Boba is the iconic cape that everyone sees Boba wearing that is usually almost never wrapped (I don't even think it's long enough in the movies when seen). Lastly, I didn't like how the most notorious bounty hunter in the galaxy walks in to a cantina on Tatooine and is basically shrugged off as another dime-a-dozen bounty hunter. Not until Boba Fett sit down did people somewhat start to notice that terrifying Mandalorian. But all in all, these things hardly take away from the overall quality of the short film and are only things that Star Wars nerds like me point out, otherwise, good job!

+TheJangoLegacy thank you for your message and the constructive feedback! We made a conscious decision in changing his traditional cape to a poncho cloak that is not canon as such, but worked well in our crossover theme. This is better detailed in our Making-of Series.
