Such a different time where people embraced connection and intimacy in colleagues and friendship ❤ Two wonderful and authentic actors 😌💫🌿

When I worked at a hospital 🏥 I loved the fact that the hospital was old ...buildings had a lot of character (Victoria Hospital in London Ontario Canada) I remember seeing a famous surgeon, as I was walking down a hallway while working (image stays in my mind, like it was yesterday) I remember he was in his greens ...cap on ...his hands most beautiful, and elegant ...he was tall, about 6'2" maybe 6'3" ...he strode so gracefully, and elegantly ...his face said, "I'm important kid" he had serious stuff on his mind, you could tell ...can't pay the famous 1's enough, I'm sure 😊

I miss Ed Flanders.

Ed Flanders always looked so much older than he was - it's hard to believe he was only 47 to 53 years old during the show's run.

Flanders was born in 1934, when the show started in’82 he was 48. Of course he had a serious drinking problem and that does age a person. Also he doesn’t strike me as someone who vain. He looks tidy but not someone who was into fashion and put a huge amount of effort into his appearance.

His character on the show was a rather tragic character as I read the real Ed Flanders was in reality.

Ed was my cousin. I didn't realize this video was online. I haven't seen him since 95 when he committed suicide.

His death was so tragic. I’ve read he struggled with alcoholism and depression. He was such an incredible actor. Ed could play any part convincingly.

Probably nice to see and hear him again even if it's on video.

I think he's a fantastic actor. I've only seen him in William Peter Blatty's movies (Ninth Configuration and Exorcist III), but I'm very tempted to watch St. Elsewhere now, and solely because I think Ed Flanders is such a likable and affable presence. It's a shame he was so unhappy in the end.

I used to really like St. Elsewhere. What was your cousin Ed like behind the scenes? Did he always want to be an actor? William Peter Blatty loved the show also which led to him hiring Ed for his movies.

Fantastic! I was looking everywhere for an interview of some of the St. Elsewhere cast while the show was still on.

Not only he died way too young, he really hated his role. However, he'll best be remembered as Dr. Westphall on "St. Elsewhere."

VCR? so dated. Ed Flanders was such a sad and tragic ending.
