Her talking about having a wider range then Whoopi is funny considering Whoopi went on to become an EGOT winner with numerous iconic roles under her belt while her (Rae's) career went practically no where after The Color Purple.

well, Whoopi deserved to be nominated for Color Purple but She won for Ghost, and that kept her in the spotlight. Rae Dawn was probably type cast for a certain role, like Lisa Bonet.
