Hi Toni, Thanks for your message. I'm not sure why a layer of something or anything between the acrylics. What are you trying to achieve with the layers? I am not a fan of using hairspray.

@@RobertBurridge thanks for the response I love your energyIm trying to achieve a thick finish and I noticed that when I put a fixative between a new layer it gives me a more solid color more defined.However I get through quite a bit of fixative and can be expensive.I heard that some people use hairspray However I wasn’t sure if putting hairspray will turn the painting yellowish with time.I’ll probably stick to fixative.✋✋👍❤️

This doesn't work with student grade paints, you get various shades of gray and mud. Time to break out the good stuff. Sorry, Bob please don't be disappointed in me for using student grade paint ;)

It still works with student grade, but you might be mixing the wrong colours. Greys are nice but if you get muddy brown you have mixed all 3 primaries, try using a cooler blue or red. The main difference between student and professional paints is mostly just thickness and colour saturation. Sometimes I run out of a particular colour and have to mix in random cheap paints from the bottom of the drawer, they are usually just too runny and the yellows are watery. Daler System 3 is fine.

Never disappointed! I like what Eric commented - and I suggest adding more white to whatever muddy color you come up with. Thanks for writing!
