What a wonderful conversation. There are very few people who can get the best out of Waylon in an interview.

That's when an artiest was allowed to be what God intended " an individual" and stay true to himself.

This interview took place 32yrs ago but if you listen to them lament how the big music labels wont let anyone experiment or be creative with their sounds and that they just want to keep pumping the same safe crap out that makes money you would think it took place yesterday. I loved when Waylon says about every 10 yrs something new and different comes along to shake the industry up. Lets hope that is happening now and we can be finished with this 'bro country' nonsense

No kidding. Underground country artist like Sturgill Simpson, Whitey Morgan, Cody Jinks, and Chris Stapleton, are having Top 5, and #1 albums on the country charts without any Top 40 hits being played. That right there is enough to prove that America is truly hungry for something different, just like when Wanted: The Outlaws was released.

Anyone know if Waylon was sober during this? I know he quit drugs this year. I think he looks sober

@ marc Cohen Yes, he was just a few months sober when he did this interview. I think that's why he's so nervous.
