Loved watching him on the videos he caught my attention right away.

I watched a Billy Squire show on his emotions in motion tour. Nazareth opened and Hair of the dog was in heavy rotation on a local rock station in Louisville, KY. Although I went for the Squire show, the drumset of Nazareth sitting on stage captured my attention. Being a young rock drummer, all those rack toms and thinking about hair of the dog. I forgot about the headliner. Nazareth put on a great show. Once the roadies were done tearing down the opening act, carried drums off in sections only to replace the drums with a simple 4 piece set, maybe two floors, but definitely one rack Tom. I was like. Ugh. Well at least is saw a drummer with a big drumset! I felt that way for 3 bars into the first song. Holy shit. The grove. The precision, drum mastery. I couldn’t put my figure on it, but I felt the groove in my soul. I ended up feeling like a left a drum clinic and could write a dissertation on compare and contrast of drummers, sets and drum style. I had an experience and was taught a huge lesson. RIP Bobby Chouinard. You mattered to me!

Seemed like a magical combo. Squire had a great band, and Bobby had drum riffs that you would wait for. Just a great groove to his style.

This is awesome! I have a “cool” Bobby story. I lived with my family, grandparents, great grandparents and aunts in the houses on Wilmington St. Bobby lived across and they ALL loved listening to him practice drums. They would always tell us how amazing he was. BUT, the best is that he was such a wonderful person that between ~1972-1975 Bobby was my BABYSITTER 🤣. I was born in 72 so sadly I don’t remember much about him then. You can be darn sure that this is one of the “coolest things about me” 🥰 You were an amazing man Bobby! I’m sure you were a positive model in my love of music and drums! Hmmm, maybe he did start teaching me at 1yo, you never know!

Billy Squier said that Bobby was "the poor man's John Bonham". Billy has tremendous respect for Bobby's musical talents, and so do I. ❤ Thank you so much for this Rockin' tribute.🔥😎🎧
