Anthony, you don't have an idea how much I am enjoying the presentation of this match's games; I was a teenager at highschool in South America when they played them, in those days chess was the Sunday's chess puzzle; the Fischer-Spassky games were printed by the next day newspapers, using a descriptive chess notation (most of my books were written with descriptive notation); TV-broadcasting was a novelty idea in the early-70s, we thought a chess match on TV will be boring to watch, beside my country was not expected to get them.

finally he was a genius and chess God and remain always. ..he played chess of course after 1972. ..how a person defeat a former world champion Boris spasky in 1992. ..without any hard work or practice. ...he handled all personal attacks before 1972 and all other issues beautifully. ..so nothing personal that much. ...in my opinion it was his choice do that. ..and wants to give chess more by upgrading level. ...and he does not want anyone to take credit of his success especially USA. He was a brilliant genius and chess progidy and most importantly World champion. I have a huge respect for him. I wish he reborn again and conquer chess for more time and decades.

Agad has a similar story to mine, my dad taught me how to play when I was 8, but I only retook it when I was 15 when one of my friends told one of his friends, who had brought a chess set to class (both older one year), that he could not beat me in chess, I won that game pretty easily and even got to play in the national high school tournament here in Nicaragua with a good result, been in chess since then.

Often you'll say "Fischer finds the absolute best move," which I assume you mean that Stockfish or some other engine rates it as best. Have Fischer's games been run through Stockfish or other engines to determine how often he did indeed play the very best move?

Steinitz and Lasker were the first two world champions and it would be great to find a way to get some of their play in. You commentary on Spasskey-Fisher has been delightful, and I'm sure you would do a great job with that series too. #suggestion

#Suggestion Could you analyze Moritz Retzsch's painting "Checkmate". Per internet rumors, some chess master observed the painting and said that the game was still playable. The name of the chess master is sometimes Paul Morphy, sometimes Bobby Fischer. Could you look at the board and either confirm or discount the internet rumors about the game.

If you mean after the rook trade it's because rook to e6 is coming, if you mean before because your rook is hanging and being captured and then again you lose your knight. Either way you are bishop v knight endgame

hello agadmator I know my thinking and I did research on fischer. ..firstly he not played USA CHAMPIONSHIP as he know about 11 match. .series it is very difficult and Paul benko gave him opportunity. ...not by USA....secondly he forfeit game 2 of this 1972 series and even ready to go back. ...then situations and demands were made. ..he really gets sound from camera of course. ......

doubled pawns are no big deal if you know how to use them. like a bishop between them is formidible attacking and defense. sometimes i will keep marching the lead one straight ahead to wreak havoc and destruction and fuck up black's pawn structure.

It's things like 9:20 ... Nc6 instead of Nd7 that make me think that this is an amateur with a chess engine. Whenever he talks on the fly about a line, not one that was prepared beforehand, you can see that the quality drops dramatically

Nd7 is a worse line. It gets met with e6 you have to defend so rook d8 and pawn captures knight anyway. Rook recaptures white plays queen h5. You can't give up the F seven pawn so you must play bishop captures on c5 which is still met with white playing bishop captures on f7. Moving the king leads to mate so you must capture so RD7 captures on f7 white then captures bishop, blacks best move is to capture rook on F1 white recaptures black recaptures King captures. Black cannot chase the white King and is eventually forced into a queen trade and the past pawn on c5 cannot be stopped

You miss the point. With Nd7, Black doesn't lose a piece but an exchange. This is very, very basic.

​@@DimitrisAndreou No, you miss the point. Nd7 leads to a lost position unless you play 100% perfect from then on, and then its a draw, while KC6 still has winning chances for black. My first example took the game to completion, i just didn't bother explaining the remainder of the second line because i assumed you'd get the point. After Nd7 bishop captures on A8 black recaptures. white plays rook captures on F7, you must capture or lose the bishop, which loses the game for black, so king captures on F7. Queen to F3, check, king moves, doesn't matter to where (or if the knight blocks for that matter) Queen captures on A8. Engine recommends black plays either Queen to A4, or Queen to D2 and accept the knight as lost, however if you tried to save it, say with knight to H5 (doesn't matter what square you play it to, leads to a similar line) rook to F1, forces either the king to move or knight to come back. If knight comes back you capture with the E5 pawn and you are now down an exchange and 3 pawns (with white having very active pieces) instead of a knight that KC6 loses. If king moves you instead lose the bishop after queen to C6 as the kings only squares to move to would be either G6 or E6 and both lead to the same move. If you follow the engine recommendation of D2 or A4, pawn captures on f6, and once again you have lost the piece you tried to save. And if you don't trust my word for it, put the position into any engine you'd like. NC6 is the recommended move, at least on both I bothered to check on, and leads to equal pieces and black being down a pawn vs ND7 which leads to 2 or 3 pawns down and the exchange

Seems that was a long way to support my suspicion: an amateur with a chess engine. Sure, Nd7 might be worse in the long run, but it's the first move anyone would consider (anyone from 1600 all the way to Carlsen), and it's that move that needs explaining. But Nc6 is the move that any amateur with an engine would opt to show, so long it's the top move for a reason down the road that only the engine saw.
