My wife passed away in October, she told me she had such a crush on Bobby Darin when she was a little girl. I hope Bobby Darin is singing to her in heaven! RIP love of my life!🌹❤

I am from the 60's generation. I was one that wanted computers to go away when they first came out. I am SO glad that technology set us where we can see Bobby Darin's performances. I am a Black Female Musician of over 50 years. I grew up hearing these songs on the radio. Then I studied music through College. Today there is NOTHING on the radio that can stand up to the musical arrangements or voice of Bobby Darin's style. He left us so soon in his life. He's crooning in Heaven.

Always love hearing stories from people like you, who KNOW what they’re talking about. Love this music and the people who sang it. This is actually my go-to song if ever I’m at a party or just with friends, I always get told I sing this very well. But I just love it for the lyrics and the jazz-vibes it gives. Thanks so much for your comment.

@@scotia7326 If your associates are telling you that you have a voice for crooning they are not kidding. I pulled the music to this song and wish I had someone, preferable a man's voice to run with me on this song. If you can carry Beyond The Sea, than you can reinvent Mack The Knife. Bless you and keep singing. It's food for the soul.

When Bobby Darin recorded this song he owned it….. In a few short years Bobby would remix the words a little in his performances, he always kept things fresh and in his own words, "Try to stay current"….. If Bobby were alive today and came down the aisle singing, then dance with his fans he would be totally over run by fans trying to get to him….. Bobby was a genuine person and he perform purely because he loved doing it, plus it was so deeply imbedded within his very soul, he just wanted to give back to his adoring fans what they gave to him…. Man oh, man did he and how…. Having this God gifted talent Bobby just wanted to share it with the world…. Bobby always performed 1,000 percent perfection each and every time never leaving out the smallest of details….. Thank you for the precious memories Bobby Darin because you have thrilled us all the world over…. REST IN PEACE BOBBY DARIN….. LOVED, REMEMBERED AND STILL MISSED !!

Drummer Don Lamond (1920-2003) supplied those so cool drum fill breaks that really lifted and swung this Bobby Darin classic. He was a consummate jazz and studio drummer, with great taste and and sense of swing. He replaced Dave Tough in Woody Herman's First Herd and played with many other famous jazz bands and artists both live, on TV, and in studio sessions .

This was momentous recording in my life. When my mother heard 12-year old me play it, she asked if I wanted to hear "some records by the man who wrote that". She gave me her two Charles Trénet albums, and an hour later, I was hooked for life.
