BD's long forgotten, show-stopping cameo in the extravagant, Technicolor flop 'PEPE' (1960). This is Bobby's film Debut.

Bobby Darin is fantastic in this movie, the song is brilliant and just watching him move is something else. He sure is the man, I totally agree. Give Bobby a song and he just delivers beautifully every time.

Pepe is a rather charming, family-friendly movie about a poor Mexican man, played by Cantinflas, seeking the return of his beloved horse. The film, which may occasionally play on TCM, also stars Dan Dailey and Shirley Jones, but the unique draw is the number of cameos by many major stars from 1960, including Jack Lemon, Janet Leigh, Edward G. Robinson, Kim Novak, Maurice Chevalier, Debbie Reynolds, among others, all playing themselves. Bobby Darin's segment is a musical highlight, and he wrote the song himself.

Its never been long forgotten for me. It was the first time i had ever seen my hero on film ( although i managed to see him live in London in 1960 too). I went to see this movie simply for this one scene! A bonus for me is that my favourite pianist at the time was Andre Previn and he was in the same scene ( i believe he wrote the song) great stuff still today ( this scene but not the movie)
The only people I watch this movie for are Miss Garland (although she doesn't appear in the movie and she's my number one), The Rat Pack and Bobby. Bobby is defentily my favorite male singer from this era of Jazz music. I just love those quirky moves he did

Thank you, Weemus Studio!! I absolutely adore Andre Previn!.. I have been trying..without any luck..to find a clip of him playing the intro to the 60's TV show, the Aquanauts..with Jeremy Slate. It is a fine, fine piece of music, naturally!! There were two theme songs. Previn's was the first, and best..(of course)..Cheers, Marilyn
