The story that Morris Levy had him murdered is very believable. Keane signed a distribution deal with Roulette & Bob went along and signed a publishing agreement with Levy. He changed his mind - after he had already been paid. You don't do that with Morris Levy. 50's pop singer & former Roulette singerJimmie Rodgers had his skull bashed in by Levy, Roulette got Hanky Panky & Tommy James after threatening other labels etc, etc. I remember as a kid thinking it was some kind of mafia & the Levy story is credible on his murder

I believe Bobby Fuller was murdered by the mob. There's no way that a person who just broke into the music business with a hit song that was a Sonny Curtis song that Buddy Holly and the Crickets first recorded would kill himself. And he wouldn't have beat himself over the head and doused himself with gasoline and also did it in his mother's car outside his apartment in a parking lot where his own mother would find his dead body. Then a police officer then threw away the gas can that was found in the car with the body with a witness right there watching the police officer throw the gas can in the garbage. Can you believe that ? Morris Levy or Leavy was the owner of the record label who had ties to the Mob but from what I understand Bob Keane who was also Ritchie Valens manager and owner of Delphi Records and also a producer was also Bobby Fuller's and the Bobby Fuller Four's producer. There are too many suspicious events surrounding Bobby Fuller's death.

Buddy Holly never sang the song "I Fought the Law". It was written by Sonny Curtis who didn't even join The Crickets until after Buddy died. Many people make the same mistake, but it was not ever a Buddy Holly recording.

Randy has been my friend for many years, I babysat his and Dale's daughters at times. He and I talked about many things in the years including his brothers death. I've met Bob Keen and never trusted him because of certain things he did and didn't do. Keen was jittery and nervous to me, he always seemed to be evasive and deceptive. I honestly believe Bob Keen knew much more about the death of Bobby Fuller than he ever let on. In my opinion Bobby Fuller died at the hands of others and his death was not an accident,

I believe that he was murdered. The music industry is/was very corrupt. He was becoming famous after so many years in the business. Why would he commit suicide while at the top of his career? I knew nothing about the mob ties. The police were also known to extort money and turn a blind eye when the mob was involved. SOMEONE took him out. I'm a musician myself, and one day I was playing an afternoon gig and on the break, I started talking to this guy who was there. We somehow started talking about Bobby Fuller, and I told him that I had heard he was murdered by the mob and they poured gasoline down his throat. That's a horrible way to go, but that's what I heard. This fella told me he was talking to someone related to Bobby, who I won't name, and that they were drinking one night and that person told him that Bobby had borrowed a large sum of money from the mob, and not only had said he might just go back to Texas, but he also didn't have the money at the time to pay the mob back, so they did him in. However he died, I'm sad about it. I loved I fought the law and I think Bobby would have had more success if he had lived.

Yeah, suspicion of Keane is where the investigation should have gone even years later. Never heard how he died. If the consumption of gasoline was half-gallon as reported that should have been a red flag. Anyone who has siphoned gas would understand how difficult it would be to drink that amount.

As a retired LEO, I can tell you, you Can't swallow gasoline, If you attempt it, your stomach Will Violently regurgitate it, because of it's strong toxic nature; Fuller was murdered, but I believe ( from the description of his body when found) that at least 2 or more people beat him severely, went too far with it, & he died. He was taken back to that lot, doused with gasoline to burn the body, but the perpetrator was scared off before he could finish it.

I think most people believed Bobby's major influence was Buddy Holly and Bobby wanted to continue to feature Holly tunes like "Love Can Make a Fool Of You" which the label wanted him to drop. I have a hard time believing this was a suicide. I think the mob was sending other acts a message that if they crossed the mob, they'd wind up like Bobby.

The Los Angeles Police force has been corrupt since the 1930's. In the 1980's whenever someone asked LA gang members who's the toughest gang in LA they would always say L.A.P.D.! And the American music business has been corrupt for over 100 years. There was even Payola in the Music Publishing business before records were invented. I used to go to record swaps all over the West Coast in the 1970's & 80's and every musician & singer I met told me about the dirty deals. If you had a hit record it was very hard to get any royalties. The Record Owners would say, "If you want to get paid, go on tour." The American Dream is a big Lie!

I like stories that unique intriguing where the stories conclusion is a question mark. For example James Dean's car,I think you did a video on it, is extremely fascinating how many accidents leading to death even when just a part or two was used. Conclusion question mark because who knows and it can't be so easily dismissed with a wave of a hand. You could do a review of publications like Ripleys Belueve it or not and all the strange stories they used to have in them like the guy who walked the entire length of Canada backwards by holding up a mirror. Or crazy things people have done to get in the Guineas Book of Records. How about a video on the history of toys for example in the mid 1850s the popular toy at that time was these like book boxes where you'd get a story let's say about Africa you'd get a puzzle of Africa and a few toy animals and the entire ensemble was to teach and have fun at the same time Have you looked into the development of the holiday Christmas? It is actually an very interesting story. For most of Christian history it was just a service in church nothing more but because of its link to Saturnalia it was axrowdy affair with roving bands of rowdy party animals banging on doors demanding fiiggy pudding and beer and just like the song says bring it right here. But slowly it morphed into family celebration it is today. The whole reason school is off for the holidays is because the kids demanded it themselves. If it isn't too late ghosts stories for Halloween say helpful,and harmful apparitions. Maybe I should just say Twilight Zone type stuff...lol

I'm a well educated person and I think there was foul play involved in Mr. Fullers life and certainly in his death. The fact that he had been beaten and ingested gasoline is the key that it was no accident or suicide. The L.A. Police didn't perform a proper investigation either. Fingerprints weren't taken at the scene? Right there is a problem. Somebody maliciously done him in possibly out of jealousy, envy or perhaps hatred because he was his own musician. He was his own boss and was ambitious, talented and becoming successful with his Band of musicians. I think it was a Police cover-up and a conspiracy involving Keane and the Producers or Manager of his Gigs or Recordings. These guys in the Music Business can play real rough hardball with Musicians. He should have had a personal lawyer and professional promoter/ personal manager. Something really stinks here. Somebody knows something too. The Police Chief died too! Wierd coincidence. Mafia might have been involved or the syndicate it seems to me. Organized Crime could have been putting pressure on Keane to lock Bobby into a contract that he didn't want to sign. Something smells real fishy and some people were out to make a bundle of money from Bobby's Bands future recordings. When he didn't agree with them they did him in, it is that simple. Bobby was young and headstrong and the Big Boys did him in I think. He had an enemy that was pursuing his success. No accident, it was murder no doubt about it in my opinion, I think.

For what it’s worth has Bobby Fuller‘s body ever been exhumed and re-examined using modern medical techniques? In the past three or so decades there have been a number of cases where people’s remains were exhumed, and their injuries were determined to have been inflicted by another means (i.e.) blunt force trauma. Had Bobby not had the injuries he had to his body and there wasn’t blood everywhere I could see the suicide theory being plausible, but who beats themselves up then goes and commits suicide? That just doesn’t make any sense. If they haven’t done so already they should at least exhume his remains and take another closer look using modern day forensic techniques.

The death happened just hours before a big meeting was scheduled with the manager and the band. Bobby received a 4 a.m. phone call to meet somebody. Bobby's brother and bass player Randy believes Bobby was killed when he balked at a business deal, when the scare tactics got out of hand. Don't waste your time trying to figure this case out; I guarantee that every detail will be contradicted by another source. Basic elements like how long Bobby was in his mother's parked car are disputed, and whether his manager took out an $800,000 insurance policy on Bobby shortly before his death, and why there was a gas can in the car. Lots of what you read is rampant speculation, because the police didn't bother to investigate, even tossing the gas can (this is how they treated a semi-celebrity?). Somebody seems to argue every possible angle of the details. "Never To Be Forgotten" should have been a Top Ten hit. I have a version with heavy reverb and it's mesmerizing, but I can't find it anymore on KZbin.

Randy Fuller has never offered the entire story of Bobby's death. He wasn't in his mother's car--but in his Mustang, which was driven to a parking space with his body inside. Dead men can't drive a car! Bobby was splitting from Keane, starting a new band and some members of the Fuller Four weren't happy about it. Keane enhanced his music and made it better and he had zero to do with Ritchie Valens dying in a plane crash and Same Cooke being shot to death while chasing a women fully nude. This is full of misleading information!

Rumors of Bobby's possible murder have been floating around for years and are possibly true. However Richie Vallens was killed in a plane crash and Sam Cooke was shot by a motel manager as he was chasing a hooker who had stolen his walket so there is no connection between those deaths.
