I always thought Bobby was not meant to be backup. His talent was immeasurable. RIP Bobby Hatfield you are missed.

Bobby Hatfield. He'll be remembered forever for Unchained Melody. Bill and Bobby, The Righteous Brothers, got a lot of soul. None better.

Big fan of Bobbie Hatfield. I’ve listened to Unchained Melody he sang solo in 1963 it seems like hundreds of times. However, it looks like he doesn’t have the range anymore. I don’t know if that happens with age or what.

I just remembered that Hatfield died. What a great talent. Thank God he was recorded; what a gift he shared. Have you ever stopped to think that for every Bobby Hatfield or Bill Medley, there are literally thousands of men and women with a similar talent, who never make it big and who never got "known"? Years ago, at a long-gone Blues club in Quincy MA (trust me, Joe knew his blues and the YardRock had it) I heard a young woman on amateur night. She was about to leave to go to nursing school out of state. She and five or six friends were there. Her friends got her pretty tanked and practically dragged her on stage to sing. And she sounded _exactly_ like Janis Joplin, even as lubricated as she was; she did three or four songs and was fanatstically good. But nursing was what she felt was her calling. She was as powefrul as Janis was too, she floored everyone. Maybe she didn't like being on stage? Who knows. But that was in the 1990s, and I have often thought of that night. What a gift.

I heard Bob Gulley sing at the Hop in Lakewood back in the 80's. He sang Smoke Gets in Your Eyes by the Platters. He is one of the best singers I have ever heard and I've been singing for 32 years. Loved his voice. I wanted to take lessons from him, but he said he didn't teach voice, and that he taught himself. So, that's what I did. Love him.

I fully agree about Bob's voice. You'll find quite a few videos with Bob in Hop Shows, with Bill Medley, and in The Youngmen on my KZbin Channel. Here's one with him in a parking garage. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWfFqImed79sbc0 Enjoy.

Bobby Hatfield died from heart failure caused by cocaine. What a waste of such a talent. Such a human being. They were the best of the best!
@nextbreathdotorg Жыл бұрын
No, the autopsy said he had advanced cardiovascular blockage and the cocaine he took that night was not the underlying cause per se.
