Further proof of Bobby Rydell’s versatility, and many thanks for posting this clip! I certainly wouldn’t call him a ‘flash in the pan’, as that suggests a worthless talent or a fluke. Rydell’s musicianship and vocal chops have allowed him to continue to perform to the present day (at 78 years of age), despite the relative brevity of his teen idol ‘hit making’ years. I’ve always thought he could have become a major interpreter of the Great American Songbook, but he came along just a little too soon to carve out a place amongst the Harry Connick Jr/Jamie Cullum/Michael Buble stylists. Still, a superb vocalist! Thanks again...👍

Bob, thanks for posting. Bobby Rydell truly had it going for him. So talented and breathtaking he was. My husband, Brian, and I met Bobby Rydell in Atlantic City, N.J. when we were married 47 years ago. We chatted with him after his show on the Steel Pier; he was so very cordial, down-to-earth, and I still have his autograph.

Jimmy Dean was one of my favorite people, I wish I could have met him. I did get to see him in Vegas. And Bobby is still one of my favorites, always will be..

Rydell had recently left the cozy, crappy confines of the small, indie label, Cameo-Parkway, out of Philadelphia and had signed with Capitol, but it would be to no avail. His chart-topping days were now behind him as he continued to swim hopelessly upstream against the relentless tide of the British musical invasion sweeping the nation at that time.

So so groovy with James Dean at the piano, Bobby Rydell on the drums. Who is the guitar player. Lots of humor in this video. Thanks, again Bobby Bernet for sharing.

Iris Cooper - The guitar player is Roger Miller, who had a big hit with “King of the Road,” plus other songs like “England Swings,” and “Dang Me.” He composed and sang a lot of humorous songs.

Bobby Rydell was teenage flash in the pan -- a true vocal talent. Love him on "Forget Him".

The British invasion buried a lot of teen idols. Bobby Rydell, Bobby Vee and Rick Nelson to name a few.
