I think they realized their mistake after the episode where Rufus died and kept finding ways to revisit him in flashbacks and dream sequence. I loved every minute of it. I would have preferred that they actually Kept Rufus alive longer, but the dream and flashbacks were still pretty awesome. The pre-death episode "Weekend at Bobby's" was peak Rufus and Bobby chemistry and probably the episode that had me laughing the hardest. I was a big "21 Jump Street" fan back in the day and I would smile and straighten up in my chair every time Steven Williams showed up unexpectedly in a show or movie that I was watching.

@@pearlgreaves8162 agreed. but you blame Castiel for that Dick Roman wouldn't have killed Bobby if Castiel hadn't accidentally freed the Leviathans from "purgatory." So this is all his fault. he also got Kevin Tran killed as well think about it. Kevin wouldn't have gotten pulled into the supernatural stuff if he didn't get struck by lightning and became a prophet if Castiel hadn't freed the leviathans from purgatory causing god to create a leviathan tablet so Sam and Dean could defeat them and he wouldn't become a prophet because they needed someone to translate the tablet to read it to tell them what it says. so in short Castiel ruined Kevin's life.

@@coreynance3874 Most of that i agree with, but some of that blame has to fall on dean thou for tricking sam in to saying yes to gadreel, n lets face it sam was ready to die for good, no deals no spell to bring him back etc, but dean couldnt have that because he didn’t want to be alone, he didn’t jus for sam he did it for himself n tbh i can’t really blame him after what they’ve been through, cos sam is the only family he has left at this point, besides jody, but that isn’t the point the point is, had dean not tricked sam then kevin would still be alive

Unfortunately no they didn't break the actor back. They brought the "character" back. When Sam & Dean needed a "taxi ride" to Hell. The reaper that took Sam to Purgatory said was the reaper who reaped Bobby but it was a different actor.

Then when Ghost!Bobby was finally put to rest he was the taxi reaper reaped him because the first one said that if Bobby declined then he wouldn't be coming back for him.

Like I'm sure it does for everyone else, the line "Because they're MY boys" brings me to tears, it really does, it just gets me. It reminds me very much of when Sam is asked why he has go to, why he has to do this and he replies "You know why. I'm not leaving my brother alone out there." The family loyalties and love and dedication in this show just kill me, they really do. I can only hope that if any of my family were ever in that situation they'd be able to say the same about me.

Tears in my eyes and they're stinging. Somehow it was the reaper pointing out how people like bobby usually end up, and I got really sad imagining Bobby like that. He really became a hero though. I just love him so much!

Everyone talking about the my boys lined amd rightfully so. But the reaper telling Bobby that he did something remarkable with his life that's what hits me. Bobby is an old drunk who hunts monsters has no family aside from the winchesters and mulls around his scrap yard. To most that's a hard life full of crap and yet Bobby makes it work. And to have a cosmic entity tell you that even though it looks like ypu made all the bad choices that they matter that you did something right like that's serious shit and I'm happy that the writers did that. For anyone who feels low and down on thier luck they can hope that maybe what they did isn't for nothing

I like him because he is kind of like Bobby as a reaper. I'd like to think that this is why the character was written and cast this way -- they wanted Bobby to have someone he could relate to and who could relate to him, rather than the usual 20-something super-attractive 20-something CW actress they usually use for these roles.

The Reapers are always fascinating to me. They aren’t evil, they’re just very matter-of-fact. They will not sugarcoat with you or beat around the bush. If you are dying, they will tell you so, straight up. It’s comforting, in a way. Kinda like how a lot of us want to be told we’re dying. Just rip the bandaid off so we can get to what happens next.

You can know the quality of a person by the quality of their foes. FFS, even Crowley learned quick to never devalue the Winchesters and Bobby. Death itself tolerated Dean. And the reaper like he said recognized Bobby's quality. It was a case of, "I have to take you, but please understand I hold you in the highest respect."

At the start of the chase the reaper was a bit curt, and made comment that he could find Bobby anywhere, even in that gin soaked rat maze. But As the chase wore on I think the reaper saw who and what Bobby was and grew to respect his accomplishments, loyalty to his boys and his raw ingenuity. It is easy to respect someone who is at the top of their game, but there is a special respect for that person who has been beaten down by life and still giving the good fight and even able to get one up on you.

To add insult to injury, this reaper seemed to genuinely wanna take Bobby to Heaven where he belonged. But when he finally does let go, he ends up in Hell because Crowley paid off whatever reaper got to him later. Also, as I type this, a plot hole comes to mind that I wanna address. Bobby went to Hell and then later went to Heaven. Didn't Kevin say that people that go to Hell can't get into Heaven?

I wish Bobby's Reaper was more like Tessa. Tessa was far more sympathetic to Dean when he was dying, as well as the kid she took in "Death Takes a Holiday." She talked to them like she genuinely cared about them and their happiness in the afterlife. Bobby's Reaper seems a lot more cold and orderly. He simply stated the facts and the options, nothing more, nothing less. I guess that's part of the job, since he probably did this millions of times, but I'd prefer a reaper that was NICE.

I have to wonder if this reaper was being nice… in a roundabout way. Tessa knocked off the incomprehensible spirit thing and took a more human form and engaged with Dean as a lost innocent because she knew that’s what he’d respond to. Not sure if Bobby would react to that the same way, and Dean was wandering about cluelessly while Bobby’s more aware of circumstances. A respectful but firm professional, on the other hand? Still runs into the problem of Bobby being Bobby, but even Bobby’s memory of Rufus told him to consider it. EDIT: oh, wow, I didn’t realize this comment was a *decade* old. Holy shit - I can’t believe its been that long since this scene came out, much less one youtube video of it…
