Our first race at Dominion! The walls were close, the dust was blinding, and the flag stands were difficult to see, but we made it through with nothing but clean racing.
I qualified in fourth behind our fresh-out-of-comp-school rookie Scott Dempsey. Little did I know that comp school grads have to start at the back of the grid for their first weekend, so I left his spot open. Tony Cottrell (who is apparently smarter than me) moved up on the grid from 5th to 3rd while we were gridding up.
I had a bad start and Jeff Blum (333) and Tony (863) both got ahead of me. I passed Jeff at the 7:40 mark and Tony at the 13:15 mark. At the 17:00 mark, a combination of a dust cloud entering the corner, and a faster car coming up the inside made took my concentration off the corner and I went off. Tony got by. I quickly caught back up, but was not able to get around Tony in the three laps that were left after my off. The GoPro SD filled up on the last lap and stopped recording. I finished in forth place.
