Layla was a joint effort by CLAPTON and BOBBY NOT DUANE. They were the creative force behind the band.Like with so many others in music,film tv ect..death at an early age enhances the reputation.Great interview,thanks from us fans.

Well, in that case, BW was a one trick pony (maybe two counting ATMP). He must have been frustrated rubbing shoulders with so many of the greats of the time many of whom went on to international fame whereas he remained a largely unknown quantity. Talented for sure but not at the highest level. EC never wanted him around after that even though there were numerous opportunities. I've never heard a good explanation for that. BW himself says he has no idea.

Very happy to get to hear this. I guess I just missed it in the past totally. Great to now hear this interview.. i wish I was in that click of musicians back then even though i was i guess 11 years younger than Eric and what i guess 7 or 8 years younger than Bobby.. I have that ALBUM OF ALBERT king's AND THE LAST LITTLE FADING lick are the notes from Layla as bobby says and as Eric has also mentioned this in the past. different timing . Eric did make it his though =.. = no doubt. As he always does. look at After Midnight.. the meeting of you two sounds so beautiful as it should be and in fact i just remembered George did a song called TRUE Love. In fact i don't think he wrote it, however once again a Great Song is Always going to be a great song......... Great in GREAT Loves Etc...Kim is short for Kimberly? or now Coco?? please respond thanks. CoCo is very talented as I thought once again A Worldly player, like Bobby, Guitar , slide piano, B3, great vocals on both your parts, bass as well too. Wow. for bass i know is completely different than guitar or it can sound like a lead guitar player on bass, so it is, a oh no, play the bass, line not lead bass. right?

Gregg Allman did say that the fame and money did come after Duane died. I’m not saying Duane doesn’t deserve being a legend guitarist. Fame does unfortunately come after death.

Love you Bobby but to say “ if Duane wouldn’t have died in the motorcycle accident he would have been just another guitar player and the Allman Bros would have been just another jam bam “ is a totally absurd comment. Duane was perhaps one of the best slide players to ever live and was already a highly respected session Guitar player well before his death. The Allman Bros were already an elite band before Duane & Barry’s deaths but they would get even better at song writing with the additions of Chuck Levell and others. One of the greatest bands of all time. Better than the Dominos in my opinion. With all do respect man

Bobby wasn't one of Duane's biggest fans. In one of his videos he talks about how Duane couldn't play "out of the box" which I took to mean improvising whereas Bobby was/is great at that. Also, that Duane had to practice clearly implying that he (BW) was such a gifted musician that he didn't. He could just start straight off and play fantastically. He is an interesting guy, but some of the things he has said....I don't know.

@@Rixdog01 I agree %100 what Bobby says..he is vastly overrated,in fact its Clapton who plays the slide on the live album

Allman bros were very good.. But the level of writing in the year and a half is in a higher level, please, let's be serious
@jpb9623 жыл бұрын
@@Rixdog01 Bobby's entitled to his opinion and that's okay. But he was involved in what he was doing at the time to really know what the Allman Brothers were about. Now with all these great Allman Brothers concerts out there, Fillmore East and West shows, Stony Brook, Atlanta Pop and many bootlegs, prove that Duane and the Brothers did NOT play in a box. Listen to any of the different versions of Dreams, Liz Reed or Whippin' Post, they never played them the same.
@777jones3 жыл бұрын
@@jpb962 Yes, both sides are right here. Allman Bros were truly great. Derek & Dominoes were also great. Bobby has a right to have a point of view. He's somebody from that era who delivered at the highest level.
