Nice. Chris Cornell's "nearly forgot my broken heart" is a perfect example of how distortion/overdrive can really add to the vibe of a lyric/vocal performance.

Another helpful parameter to consider is predelay in your reverb plugin for up-front vocals. Often times a longer predelay can help the vocal sound more forward.

Great sing, fantastic tutorial… ❤ not wishing to take away any of my appreciation of the talent and expertise given here, I must say I’m a tad off put by the tuning on the first line. It spoils the vintage vibe for me. Said respectfully with love from London 🇬🇧 UK

Nicely putting your own twist on this Scheps technique. I've closely imitated his chain in the box. A pultec attenuating the lows and boosting the highs onto a compressor to smash it a bit. I believe he used his blueface 1176 but I'm not sure there. Then into another pultec but with the opposite settings boosting the lows back in and attenuating the extra highs back down resulting in a smoother but more forward high end.

OFF TOPIC: Hey Bobby, I just wondered: How often do you hate your choice of the "Doctor" persona and having to dress-up again for a video + green screening/ editing the background etc. Or is it still fun to do? You could try out AI image generators for some operation room / recording studio fantasy hybrids as a background ;-) (There are some cool techniques for creating big Hi-Res backgrounds for video's with AI, based on your own (limited) background, then adding stuff with out-painting the environment and zooming out.)

Sounds honkey and nasally to me. Could be a level thing though or maybe a different frequency could have been accentuated. The overall point is taken though and I will be adding this to my toolbox. Good content as always Bobby!

Nice. Exploring parallel channels beyond the standard myself over the last months. I´m sure this parallel you showed would even sound a bit better if you would have used Pro-Q3 in linear phase mode. Messing with the phase can sound cool or not too drastic in some scenarios but I think paying attention to these details could ad up. Especially when you use several parallel channels for beefing up several tracks.

Thanks. Barely tuned just a few words. Great singer! Keep in mind that some singers want every word tuned so the tuning becomes part of their sound. This artist was more of a purist. Neither wrong or right.

Do you have both tracks enabled? I kind of lost the track at 7:10 where you say "let me ease this ..." I am not familiar with Cubase so i dont know what that slider is. Do you have the FX on the copy of the track and then you mix it with the original track? Is the original track playing too?

Would you be able to share why you chose Cubase as a DAW? I’m still working on further optimizing my MIDI-heavy workflow, and I heard Cubase is pretty good for that. I’m currently on Logic Pro right now, do you see any particular reason why one might want to consider Cubase instead of Logic, say is there a particular function Cubase has that you find yourself using most? Or any other reason like differences in sound between DAWs
@BobbyHuff
@BobbyHuff Жыл бұрын
The only reason I use Cubase is because it’s what I started on and I’m fast on it. I don’t think it has any real advantages over the other top DAWS although I feel like the midi is much better than Pro Tools midi. I would say the best DAW for you is whichever one you are most comfortable with!
