The Trio Dinicu is named after the Romanian virtuoso violinist and composer Grigoras Ionica Dinicu. Based in Los Angeles, the group combines the forces of three world class musicians: Luanne Homzy on violin, Tommy Davy on guitar and Frank Anastasio on double bass and vocals. Their first album, "Trio Dinicu: Live in Los Angeles" was released at Djangofest Northwest in Washington in September 2013, and is available at djangoguitars.com and for download on iTunes. Today they perform "Dobri Dien Ramale" (comp. Romani 'Gypsy' Hymn) and "Hora Mărțișorului" (comp. Grigoras Dinicu).

In case someone from "The Trio Dinicu" is reading this : "Mărțișor" (mərt͡siˈʃor) is an ancient celebration at the beginning of spring, on March the 1st in Romania, Moldova, and all territories inhabited by Romanians. The word "Mărțișor" is the diminutive of "Marț", the old folk name for March ("Martie", in modern Romanian), and thus literally means "little March". The word is believed to come from the Thracians which used to celebrate the New Year's Eve on the first of March, a month named after the god Marsyas Silen, the inventor of the pipe ("fluier", traditional Romanian musical instrument), whose cult was related to the land and vegetation. Thracian spring celebrations, connected to fertility and the rebirth of nature, were consecrated to him. During those "Mărțișor" celebrations, one of the most played dances was "Hora", which, being deeply rooted in the ancestral spirituality , is a traditional Romanian folk dance where the dancers hold each other's hands and the circle spins, usually counterclockwise, as each participant follows a sequence of three steps forward and one step back. The dance is usually accompanied by musical instruments such as the cymbalom, accordion, violin, double bass, saxophone, trumpet or the pan pipes, bag pipes, fluier, etc. The "hora" is popular during weddings, celebrations and festivals, and still is an essential part of the social and spiritual life in rural areas of Romania. The Romanian composer Grigoraș Dinicu named his composition "Hora Mărțișorului", which now, thanks to the above explicative rows, I hope, will make you understand why your version of that song's title is not the correct one ! Fix it, please !
