Hey Mark, My, Bobcat 773 caught fire setting in the driveway... I look out from my sink one morning and see the flames engulfing it. The fire seems to have started around the battery!... I am removing the motor tomorrow(2-24-20). I will be following your channel!! Thanks a lot!

Good Morning Semocase, my hope is that we all can learn through this process. The fire in my machine was pretty extensive and I am finally back at it and will get some new footage up soon. I tore down the Turbo and cleaned it back up. will be trying to start the engine soon to make sure everything sounds right before moving forward. Have a great day and stay tuned... Be Blessed!

How did you remove and replace the fuel tank. My problem is the fuel gauge dropped into the tank on my 453 (yes he is an old guy), and I just want to know if there are any pit falls to avoid. Being an old Marine, I know the best way to survive an ambush is to avoid them. I am having a difficult time finding information on my 40 year old machine.

The engine had to be removed out of my 873 to access the fuel tank...its a big job but doable:) snap a few pictures of important areas before you start to give you reference points when putting it back together and God Bless!

Yes sir there is no way to get the tank out without removing the engine. You may also want to contact a bobcat dealer to make sure you can even get a new fuel tank for that model now.....

Does the tank have a rubber drain bung? If so, where abouts is it and can you access it while it's in the machine? Thanks, Andy
@SlimyGreenGarage4 жыл бұрын
it does and I'm pretty sure you can access from the main drainage holes on the bottom pan of the Bobcat

Thanx for the tips! So let me be clear on this: To remove the fuel tank you have to first remove the engine. Talk about design and engineering! Anyway, how long did it take you to remove the engine? Any tips on how to clean all the debris out of the fuel tank that keeps clogging the pickup strainer?
@SlimyGreenGarage Жыл бұрын
It probably took me a couple days to get the engine out not working overly hard. My best tips would be to be patient...lol make good use of a little heat for stuck coupler connections and as far as keeping the tank clean I would say that it goes back to good maintenance, keeping the machine clean and using a screened funnel when fueling it up...thanks for the question and God Bless.....You Can Do It!!

I'd like to know how you reached all those hydraulic lines to get them off. Also, is it necessary to remove the rear wheels to accomplish all that?
@SlimyGreenGarage3 жыл бұрын
Hey there Grampa Badger, Having the rear wheels off made it easier to get the fuel tank hold down brackets out. As for the Hoses, its just a combination of getting at them from every angle possible....cab up.......side covers off......Patience and a few obscene words.......:)

Does any one know how to change the belt pulley on a bobcat 443 i can’t take the tension off the pulley
@justatool4 жыл бұрын
1) Did you have to raise the arms or cab to do the engine removal? 2) Where did you get the tank? That doesn't look half as bad as my burn, I'll be replacing all wire harnesses. Any leads on parts? eBay is pretty expensive. 3-500 for a harness.
@SlimyGreenGarage4 жыл бұрын
I did not have to raise the arms, but I did have the cab tilted up while getting to some of the things near the rear of the engine. There are 2 bolts in the front of the cab that once removed will allow you to tilt the cab back and it will lock in place. mine has hydraulic rams like on a car hood to help in lifting,,,,although mine are wore out....lol I bought my fuel tank through Bobcat Of Omaha, but any dealer should be able to get that for you. If you get on the Bobcat website you will find that if you enter your serial number you can find your part numbers. As far as your wiring you will find a disconnect plug under the cab once you have it lifted up. If you have any more questions or need more specific info just let me know. Have a Great Monday!!!

Not really all that long, I think a person could remove it in a day with the right tools and place to work on it.
