Nice big beautiful cat. Never keep the pole under his chin because a bobcat’s windpipe is very easily crushed. Once crushed, it will not reopen. Then you can release it, but it wont go anywhere. Remember that the catch pole cable also restricts blood flow in the arteries on each side of the neck.

+Walter Roberts Hi there, this is my 2nd go around watching all your release videos & this time I had a thought. For the ones that are worn out from the fight or don't realize they are free, I was just wondering if you threw a ball their way (guessing which way they might run of course) would get them on the move on. Just thinking there could be times you don't have the luxury of the wait time. Thanks for all you do for these wild animals. The female with the mange was hard to hear. Perhaps you could get the ear of a legislator & propose some changes. Such as knowledgeable people, such as trappers, woodsmen etc., be pre-certified & then they're allowed during certain periods of the year (winter coming) to take the lives of any manged wolves. These would be reported to the proper wildlife management for confirmation of the animal's mange of course. Heh, guess I had more than one thought. Thanks again!

how does that trap catch them without hurting their paws. this is cool i just hope their paws are fine after
@walterroberts15359 жыл бұрын
+Matias Delgado The jaws on the traps are smooth and they do not close all the way; there is a gap between the jaws that help to ensure they do not get cut or break their bones. The feet are really tough on dogs and cats and most times their pads are in the trap and they are like little pillows, so the trap just holds their foot and it makes them mad but they are not in pain in most cases. Her paw was just fine when she was released. Thank you for watching and for your question!

Well why are you trapping it if you're just letting it go. It obviously traumatizes it
@GetMeThere19 жыл бұрын
It would probably be difficult...but if there was a way to slip the entire cat into a good, tough canvas bag, with just the leg/trap hanging out -- and then you pulled the cord to close the bag tightly, then you'd have everything under control. You could take the trap off and, having tied some sort of release knot to hold the bag closed, you could even get in your car, and pull the rope to partially open the bag from inside your car -- the the cat would figure it out from there. I think a lone wolf can "calculate" his best course of action is to hit the road; crazy cats are another thing altogether -- as I'm sure you're aware. There's never a guarantee that cat isn't going to be hanging off your face in 2 tenths of a second after you release it.
@GetMeThere19 жыл бұрын
+GetMeThere1 Furthermore, instead of having a pistol at the ready I think you would be better protected if you had a thick blanket and held it up in front of you -- if the cat came out you it would end up in the blanket, and/or wrestling with and biting the blanket. I have a LOT of experience with firearms of all sorts, and I would have little faith in somebody who claimed they could shoot a bobcat from a few feet away before it could get to them -- with the intention of NOT shooting it if possible. It's that kind of hectic scene that could end up with you shooting your buddy -- like if the cat quick veers toward him a split second after having come at you. Come to think of it, probably a couple of evergreen boughs to swish at it would probably be better than most things...

why are the coyotes getting trapped? is there to many in that area? what do you do once you trap one?

Daniel Garn in Nebraska alone ,31,000 coyotes were harvested in the 2015-2016 season. That's not counting the yotes that had mange. Over half the coyotes we caught had mange. There are trappers taking well over 400 coyote and more. They raise hell on calves and mother cows during birthing season. They'll eat the calf alive as it's being born and then start on the mother.

Unfortunately that's not true for Mountain Lions (_Puma concolor_) which has a population of barely 40k in all of North America and what's worse is - it's declining! Yay you! But it is better to make sure you don't catch them, for people like you guys not catching them should be as easy as sitting down. All that pain you put on that cat, you did that so you had a video of you being a hero. You are the cause not the cure.Choking a scared animal makes you cruel. Since you think this is all no big deal look at it like this. What if you kid was caught by a bully and was getting choked just enough to lose oxygen so the kid will calm down, since its alright with you, no harm, no foul. I hope you get this bit of karma, you have earned it. And incase you don't know cats can and will die when pushed too far. They stop reacting, but breath crazy deep and breathing is effort and normally convulse and die. You can kill him so easily infact I know you boke some bones I heard them but I think you know you have almost killed him. I will be surprised if he lives after all that.

If you would like to leave your contact information, we would be happy to call you next time, so we can see how to ensure a much safer release! What is the actual purpose of the traps? What is it supposed to be catching?

Trappers, lowest scum of hunters. You neglected to mention they sometimes break their leg with the trap. Oh, and here's my 9mm. Gotta have protection in-case the pissed off animal trapped doesn't come at me to maul my dumbass apart. Only a matter of time until you need it for self defense against one of these or something else you aren't blasting in the face for sport. Dumbest thing I've even seen that can easily be avoided and not happen in the first place.

Except the traps are for Coyotes, which are a species that require regulation of their numbers. Anti-hunters always make me laugh because no matter what method of hunting you choose to emply theyll never be happy unless youre doing it with your bare hands.

MHIK they don't break their legs in the modern traps. Been trapping 50+ years and never had a bobcat,fox , or coyote break a leg. Traps now days have to pass a humane standards test.

please stop setting these traps - those animals spent hours in terror thats how they got hurt there is no need to trap predators at all
@walterroberts15359 жыл бұрын
+dana2542 That is an untrue statement, well all are not accurate. Animal did not spend hours in terror she was actually sleeping when we first approached her and secondly there is definitely a reason and a need for trapping and controlling predator populations. Thank you for watching and for your comments!

Sir there is no need for human intervention with predators. It is extremely unhealthy for the ecosystem. I supplied you with research from credible sources. Your opinion is just that- an opinion not fact. We have examples from this country on the disaster man makes when attempting to control or change an ecosystem. Hunting of predators is just trophy hunting. Not a sport - a sport takes two sides to agree on the game. Trophy hunting is unhealthy and takes the biggest and best out of the population therefore allowing the weaker genes to be passed along creating a sick and unhealthy animal population. Let mother nature create the balance. And sir all animals need to sleep- I would imagine after hours of terror and fear and struggle that poor animal was exhausted as you would be would you be so inhumanely robbed of your freedom. Thank you for your polite response. I appreciate you remaining civil in this discourse. I wish I could communicate to you the true nature of trapping- how wrong it is for the animals and the ecosystem that they balance. Perhaps if you took into consideration that all mammals have the same set of emotions that humans have. Happiness joy fear terror love of family and children- that wolves are a family that to kill one of the pack can cause great upheaval and death of offspring. That like you all mammals want to live raise their children and experience all life has to offer. Man does not have the market on that. What ever you have felt -a wild mammal predator has felt - pain- terror-loss- love and joy - Humans need to move beyond killing animals-especially when humans think to control nature- they only bring unbalance and destruction
First, I am an opponent of firearms, because I could never make a connection between weapons and freedom. You do a good job there and I admire your tenacity in dealing with wild animals. For me, it would never come into question the animal that I have freed a moment ago to have to shoot. That would make no sense. One method would be with a blowgun and a tranquilizer dart to try there is good mobile variants. This is gentler on the animal and their risk of injury.
@walterroberts15359 жыл бұрын
+Paranoia Actually the use of tranquilizers is more harmful to the animals. As for weapons and freedom? There would be no freedom without weapons. Thank you for watching and for your comments!

I wouldn't give my life just to free an animal. If I freed an animal and it started coming at me I would have to defend myself
@azurebonds87136 жыл бұрын
like Franken says you gotta defend yourself and altho it may be brutal a gun is pretty much the only sure fire way to do that when it comes to dangerous wild animals.
