Great Video! Good thing you have that overhead crane, I use my mini-ex with a chain or my Winch on my RZR to help pull them off. Sure helps when you are working alone.

Awesome video, on the t870 with the 5 link torsion suspension you don't need a grease gun though lol. I looked for the grease fitting for about 30 minutes and finally realized it is automatic track tension. You simply loosen a bolt and the hydraulic pressure is released from the tension piston and when you are ready for the tension you simply tighten that bolt and turn the bobcat on and it will automatically adjust to the correct tension. It's pretty cool cuz even if you put a crazy amount of pressure on that front idler and it slightly loosens your track it will detect it and readjust the tension on its own.

Thanks for the comment, yeah the T870 is the only Bobcat with the automatic track tensioner.

I change both tracks on my T300 but I'm going to get a few bucket pins for next time. That was a great tip. Thank you so much, your videos are to the point, informative and enjoyable to watch. Bobcat should learn from you, seriously, their service videos are few and far between and take forever to watch and are so sterile. Since finding your channel, I feel like I have a mechanic living next door to me LOL.

Thank you for the video. I ordered some c pattern trax and sure need to watch some videos to help along ! You mentioned the specific amount of grease to get the tension to spec. What is the correct tension so not to snap or bend something and how do you go about gauging that correct tension also what kind of grease is the grease you need to use thank you for your advice

I did this for my T595 using a Milwaukee grease gun. I put too much grease in the tensioner and (bang) something broke. Probably the spring assembly. Be careful, everyone

Question. Replaced skinny tracks with wide tracks on a new T550. Go to tension and its spitting all the grease back out. Replaced the fittings and still spitting it out. Ive tried tightening/loosening. Any input?

What are the benefits of using narrow tracks vs wide tracks? And lug pattern?
@tetradgroup
@tetradgroup 2 жыл бұрын
Excellent question, really depends on the conditions in which you work. Wide tracks have a lower ground pressure but takes more power to operate. Check out this link for more information on tread patterns. www.bobcat.com/learn/research/loaders/detail?choosing-the-right-tracks

Either the fitting is loose as it is actually a valve or the fitting is damaged. Try to tighten first.

Is it possible for the tensioner to become seized or bent? I cannot get the track tension to release all the way after removing the grease fitting.
@tetradgroup
@tetradgroup Жыл бұрын
Yes, if the tensioner spring is broken it will wedge in sideways and nearly impossible to take apart. Could be just rocks or debris as well.

What kind of tracks are those? Looks like they're great to run on asphalt.
@tetradgroup

It's actually Bobcats turf track but this machine is used on asphalt 90% of the time and it's what lasts the longesest of any other track we have tried.

@@tetradgroup cheers mate, yeah tried them but they won’t ship to Australia unfortunately, we have just the two options here in Oz for tracks both of which destroy turf. Might have to get the grinder out and make my own.

I just purchased a 16’ t590 and I went to tighten the track a touch and found out that the zerk fitting is at a slight angle upwards ( both sides are the same ) and cannot get a grease gun to properly attach to the fitting to tighten the tracks any tips thanks
@tetradgroup
@tetradgroup 2 жыл бұрын
Sometimes they are at a slight angle but a standard grease gun should work. Are you using a locking grease adapter like the lock n lube?

Is it true that if I release the pressure on the track that cylinder with the zerks on it can twist to re align the zerks for easy use ? Maybe changing drive oil when I pumped then back up I push on the zerks and turned the cylinder upwards to make them hard to access?
@tetradgroup
@tetradgroup 2 жыл бұрын
@@bretbealmear922 I don't think you can on the 590, it might turn an ⅛ of an inch because it locks into the track frame, the end of cylinder has flats on it so depends on how much wear it has. The older machines you could turn to any position but the M series has the flats. There could be a weird serial number break that I'm not aware of but it's worth a try.

You know those hand pumped hydraulic lifts we can buy? WHY!? Don't companies like BobCat weld those so that a skid steer user can lift their machine for service?

great now imagine doing this without a functional sprocket in the mud in the woods on a hill with no other equipment. that’s my life right now because of one f#*king rock that dislodged the track on the inside of the sprocket and both idler wheels. this thing has got me cussing words that don’t event make sense. if i wasn’t 27 i would be dead from high blood pressure. 😡🤬🤯
