I mean this as nothing but a compliment: sonically this is like a great big, chunky, generously proportioned Volca Drum. Like I say - this is not a slight on it, I love the Volca Drum. Very hard, shamelessly digital, really cool. I looked at one a while back and was disappointed that there was no parameter locking which, like you said, seemed an obvious enhancement. I guess I have to take a closer look again now...

I want a drum machine that focuses on percussion, like rims, congas, cajon, tabla, xylophone, type sounds. Something hybrid that had sounds like the old Roland Rhythm machines as well as the 808 and 909 kicks, bass, congas, and rims, even some of the cowbells are cool. I also like the Elektron percussion sounds. I've been thinking of getting a few of the Elektron machines, but I don't really like all of the space that they would take up. I don't like super harsh snares, and I pretty much hate claps and crashes/O-Hats. I like using things like woodblocks or ambient recordings to replace snares and hats. High frequencies that have super harsh noises bother me. I'm basically looking for a drum machine that I can make ambient style rhythms on, that doesn't focus on harsh sounds, like a lot of machines. I get that EDM uses a lot of harsh noise in producing music, and that's what companies cater to, but I don't make or listen to EDM. I like chill ambient music, with mostly low BPM percussion that lays in the middle/background. I know my wants are niche, but it would be cool if a company made a hybrid/sampling capable ambient focused machine with kick/bass/percs, without all of the focus on hats, crashes, snares, and claps.
@gushrecords1062 жыл бұрын
you should try the Elektron Rytm MK2.
@noahsiekmann4275 Жыл бұрын
Just get a sampler like the digitakt and load up all the samples you want to use. Then use the filter, delay, and reverb to mellow them out as far as you want. Or run it through some effects to shape your sounds however you want. You could go with the Analog Rytm and use the built in machines and samples. Just because the examples you have heard sound harsh, that doesn't mean that is all the machines are capable of doing. Especially with the sampling added in.

I've been intrigued by Modor since having a play on the NF-1 at Synthfest UK in 2016 - the best sounds in that were also the most unashamedly digital, the tuned noise etc. I get the same vibe from this. Really enjoyed the parameter lock stuff you were doing after the 20m mark or so. It reminds me, in a good way, of a kind of clangy, ratchetty electronica from the early 2000s, Spooky and such. Price is sadly out of my range though. I know Modor made a compact version of the NF-1 but not sure that would work here..?

@@HOLLASOUNDS Sorry, thats not good enough. A small company like Synthstrom released the Deluge at a reasonable price which was actually innovative with good build quality. Excusing these issues becuase its a 'small company' is just enabling consumer behaviour. Yep this is how Drum Machines should be conceptualized , expecially regarding mostly rythm and sound, the most important. Yep but, IF ONLY would have been half the size and half the price there would have been much more rumor about it. Also , knobs could have been encoders (a la Elektron), given some better position to them and at least a pair of encoders more per track set somewhere in this giant layout. To be so big everything could have been better managed. E.G. : LXR-02 (in comparison) results a better purchase. What a potential, Modor: waste !
@NunyaB1s Жыл бұрын
I mean no hate by this comment, but I struggle to hear anything here that Modor is doing better than Erika Synths LXR-02. Not enough to justify the price difference. Especially with no support for polyrhythms.
