This has got to be the most artistic and detailed dinghy of its size ever built. Plus, it is full of the historic recycled original timber!

"If you are going to make it, make it beautiful." You certainly have done that. Those mahogany knees are outstanding. The finish is superb. The Soss hinges and the brass latches are perfect. 👍👍 Steve is going to be so excited when he sees Victoria. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂

Arabella’s launch was 10/10 and after watching Steve and the crew build Arabella for the last 7 years, I was so happy and excited to watch the livestream yesterday and even teared up during it. Also, seeing you on the livestream was really awesome.

Most people don't own a piece of furniture that nice. Everything you do is so thoughtful both from a practical point of view and the sentimental nods toward Victoria.

Bob, that's a master build, just WOW. I love the recuperation of old Victoria's wood. That what I like about Victoria and the Arabella, one is recycled and the other is from sustainable foresting, just love the eco friendly approach. Thanks for chairing your master craftsmanship… Danny

WOW is the word, yes. I really dont have any interest in wooden boats (I think). But what got me hooked on Arabella, Tally Ho and now this channel is the craftsmanship and pride in your work.
@thomasarussellsr Жыл бұрын
Well, both hold plenty of recycled wood from Old Victoria, the tender is just a much higher percentage of recycled wood than Arabella.🎉

I watched the launch yesterday and I have to say both the professional boat builder, and the beginner built absolutely stunning vessels. The launch went so smoothly that I almost wanted someone on the dock to fall in for some comedic relief. Things could not have been more perfect other than the light rain. I am so proud of the work you builders made. Congratulations!

I can see why woodworkers always say that you can't have enough clamps. Although not a boater I am learning so much about how things can be shaped to fit one piece of timber into another. I am glad I am a subscriber to your channel Bob.

Altough I’m not planning to build a boat and already have a fiberglass 22’ sailing cruiser, I am watching your video’s with fascination and in awe for your craftsmanship. I certainly learned some techniques that also come in handy with other projects. Thanks for that.

I’m surprised no KZbin boatbuilders have a sponsorship from Irwin for their clamps. Seems to be the first step in building any boat, buy 3 metric tons of clamps.

After seeing what the dinghy has become I'm glad you took on the task of making it and clearly put a lot of hard work and love for boat building into it, it truly turned out the best it could ever be AND with re-used parts of an old boat that will be remembered for a long time to come. 👍

In addition to looking traditional, spacers on the inwales allow water (and dirt/sand) to flow out freely when tipping the boat on edge to empty water out.They also make the gunnels stiffer for better rowing and provide a nice platform for raised oarlock pads.

It’s a real joy to watch a true craftsman ply their trade. Watching the cadre and precision you apply to every piece and the thought process is rewarding to watch beyond words. All the pieces added in this video just made it look more like a boat that anyone would love to own even if they didn’t have a bigger boat to put it onto or to use it with…like Arabella. I watch the live launch and it was fun and you could feel the emotions just getting it that far and finally got it into it’s intended element, the water. I can’t wait to see what this boat looks like on her deck when it’s done.

Just beautiful, what else can you say. You are a real professional boat builder. I spotted you using a foam brush some time ago and thought I would try one on some jewellery boxes I was making and I found them great to use. I also watched the launch of Arabella yesterday and what a great day for Steve and his team. The Gods blessed it at the right time of the launch so it received a nice sprinkle. Arabella is certainly a nice boat and Steve should be very proud of what he has achieved. Like you he is very professional and what I liked about the build was he always researched a project well before tackling it. Something we could probably learn from. Cheers Ian

There is a lot more to this than I was thinking Bob. The tender is looking better and better. I thought myself that the last thing you were installing were called gunnels rails. 🙂
@TheArtofBoatBuilding Жыл бұрын
The in-wales and out-wales together are call the gunnel. I misspelled it in the opening slide. 🤨My dyslexia strikes again! It is pronounced GUNnull. The old spelling is gunwale, with the same pronunciation. This spelling is not used much now.
