Thank you LoneWolf74 for this useful unboxing of the Boblov A23 body cam. You have the first video on KZbin to discuss this model. And this is the video that brought me to your channel. You did well to get straight to the point of showing what the A23 was about. Your voice reminds me of Steve Buscemi, especially Mr Pink in RESERVOIR DOGS! Anyway, I am going to set up my Boblov A23 now. Your video was a good guide as to what to expect. My first concern about his body cam is that rubber flap 1:40 at the bottom of the body cam that covers the charging port and the SD card slot. This rubber flap seems and feels cheap. Mine already shows a small tear. This is a real design blunder from Boblov. I hope it is worth it. And well done again on a useful video. (15 August 2023).

The product page says the dash cam mode will activate recording when it senses power at the port. Does it also turn off recording when the power is off? The only advantage I see over an actual dash cam is using the internal battery for parking mode.

I do wish the IR lights were covered with black acrylic rather than clear. If you remember the old Sony PS1 CD's, they had black plastic on the data side which stopped visible light but allowed the transfer of infrared so the laser pickup would still work.

There is an "LCD AUTO OFF" option in the menu settings to adjust that.

@@LoneWolf74_ *[ EDITED ]* Ok, I think that I found what I was looking for. I had a DUH moment and downloaded the manual. Sadly, while it's PDF, it's not searchable. All images. But that's ok, I discovered that there's a "STEALTH" mode for recording. Apparently, LCD, LED all off. No sound prompts, nothing. THAT'S WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR! LOL Also, it does say that it can take an SD card up to 512 Gig and they suggest SanDisk. So I'm good and I'm going to order this now. My only issue with this is the lack of stabilization. But for the price, it's good enough for now.

I think there's something in the settings where you can disable the loop recording so that it records continuously.

Don't understand why footage on body cameras are terrible & smartphones have smaller lenses & are far better

I think it's a compromise between long battery life and video quality. In order to have 8-10 hour battery life in a compact camera, the picture quality can't be as good as a phone camera, GoPro or DJI Osmo Action. That being said, I definitely agree that the picture quality should be somewhat better on some of these body cams. I hate that some of them are advertised as "4K" image quality even though it's actually upscaled 1080p.

Smart phone images are layered at a very small degree and 4K is super duper compressed image. Something body cams don't yet have.
