This for me was the most impressive manoeuvrer - we are all very familiar with fighter jets doing all sorts of spectacular 'crazy' aerobatics, but a transport aircraft doing a loop. Well that really is something different.

The F-15EX (the aircraft in the video is the QA, which is a slightly less capable version for the Qatari Emiri Air Force) is literally just an F-15 in name only. It's a complete, ground-up redesign of the F-15. Looks very similar, but is a completely different airframe under the skin. It's computer-limited to 9G, but the pilot can override that limitation temporarily. It still has to deal with physics, but mostly just uses it as a suggestion, not a rule. ;) Treat yourself to some videos of the F-15EX!

@@soulsphere9242 If you don't consider moving to fly-by-wire, replaced avionics, incorporating EPAWSS jamming and EW suite, migration to Open Mission Systems, an additional 28% more payload capacity than an -15E, and complete digital engineering a ground-up redesign of the F-15D, I don't know what to tell you. It's absolutely *not* iterative over the D and it's got MASSIVE number of improvements over the E. What tells you that under the skin is a very different plane is the fact that the D variant can fly up to 9G with a 50% loadout. The EX can fly up to 12G with a 100% loadout. Given the massively increased payload capacity of the EX over the D, you don't get that gain in payload and G loading without a restructuring of the airframe itself.

One of those, when I was young things, In the early '60's I saw my 1st Phantom jet. It took off, went straight up, out of sight and gone..a few minutes later it came in over the ocean and did it again.like a bat out of hell. Never forgotten it

The Eagle is the most graceful, smooth jet in the air. It flies by and looks absolutely rock steady, and with low wing-loading, glides through the air flat. Not especially stealthy, but like the Hornet, nearly impossible to physically defeat in the air.

What A model F-15 did you see? That was the new Advanced Eagle. In the US It’s the F-15 EX. The F-15QA seen here is essentially the same but for the Qatar Airforce. Unlike an A model, this Eagle has all digital flight controls, digital cockpit, way advanced a2a and a2g capabilities, advanced sensors, a much better radar, vastly superior countermeasures and two seats. The only way they are similar is that they are both in the F-15 family lol.

I see a display of the F-15 at Mildenhall american air base in suffolk,late 80's not quite sure of exact year but it was before crowd/spectator safety regs started. The pilot came feom behind the crowd at what seemed like just 50ft above our heads. I was maybe 9/10 years old and the sound and feeling put me on my arse!! Lol. From that day all i wanted to be was a pilot!!. AMAZING AIRCRAFT.

I had no idea the F16 was THAT much lighter than the F15 and F18. Almost HALF the weight (clean) and a solid 10,000 more pounds of thrust than the F18. I also didn't know the F16 is a 9G jet and the F18 taps out at around 7. Now the new F15 is just a beast. It has the same overall shape to the airframe but that's just about all it shares with its predecessor. Now if we could please give the F35 another 15,000lbs of thrust which its slated to receive by 2030 and take some weight out of the raptor while adding 360 degree thrust vectoring that'd be wonderful. Thanks Uncle Sam.

Remarkable manoeuvrability considering the F-15QA lacks vectored thrust and it’s twin F110-GE-129 engines’ upgraded thrust is apparent with that astonishing steep climb on takeoff. It’s VNE of Mach 2.9 at sea level is crazy. Edit : “Get in the right-hand lane when it’s safe to do so!”

Mach 2.9 at sea level is total bullshit by Boeing. The airframe is still limited to Mach 2.5 AT ALTITUDE, and even this value can be reached only under exceptional circumstances. Probably the EX and QA, without Fast Packs, are slightly faster than the C, but not due to the higher thrust, but for the lower drag determinned by the addition of the external engine petals, absent in the legacy Eagles.
