This is some of the BEST footage I have seen in many, many years. Your tracking is second to none, and the clarity of the stills is mouthwatering. I like how you did not mess about trying to "over zoom" as some do, then mess up the clarity of the shot and lose the aircraft. Subbed and watching with great interest this channel. I also liked some of the footage of the pilots wing waving thanks to the base and it's staff.

My dad flew a F-4 Phantom in Vietnam and continued flying the Phantom back at home @ George AFB after the war ended. Big, Bad, and Super Loud. Hearing sonic booms on a daily basis over the California High Desert was commonplace for me back in the 70's 80's 90's when I was growing up. Less than two years, after he retired from the Wild Weasels in 86', they closed George AFB, and the Phantom was later dropped after another 6-8 years, sometime in the 90's. It was the end of an era. I had a hard time sleeping because it got so quiet. I guess I needed to hear the power of the Phantom's engines to rock me to sleep - knowing that the world was safe, and that America was the greatest country on earth. I still live in the High Desert and still go over to Edwards AFB commissary - but even Edwards is very quiet these days. It's been at least least10 years since I heard a sonic boom there. I saw a B-1B on out on the flightline the last time I was there. Just sitting there, absolutely still... It was a spectacular sight. I can't describe the feeling that I had seeing it - and knowing that it was still being flown.

Father Guido, was an F-4 phase mech at George 87-91 and still hear the wavering sound off the hangar walls as two Phantoms would tuck their gear in my head to this day. I didn't stick around phor the base closure the following year as I moved back to NoCal, but my friend works at Edwards on lawn darts. Peace

My Dad is a Now Retired US Army UH-1 Huey, OH58, and AH1 Cobra pilot and was able to get me a Fam Ride with a Phantom Driver buddy of his that transitioned from Army Rotary Wing to USAF Fast Jets in the late 80s. Col Romero was at the time an RF-4C driver with the Alabama Army National Guard and I was deciding whether to go Air Guard or follow dad's footsteps and fly Helicopters in the Louisiana Army National Guard. Best Ride of my life and something I'll never forget. If I typed how Amazing it was doing mock fights with the Louisiana Air Guards Brand new F15s then picking a fight with the Navy Reserves 204th River Rattlers new FA18 A+. Our old girl more than held her own. I was pleasantly surprised that these RF4s had Sidewinders as well as the ability to carry SUU23 20mm centerline pods. Probably the biggest Non Event of the whole hop was having to be told I had broken the sound barrier lol. Hollywood had me thinking it would be buffetting like chuck Yeager in the Right stuff nope it was smooth as silk in and out of the transonic range. I could elaborate all day lol. As far as Fat Amy aka the F35A is concerned I blows my mind how underperfoming that jet is. If you compare specs on Wikipedia and thrust to weight ratios it should easily outrun the F4and it fails miserably in every metric.

It is kind of a pointless thing to brag about though as the design philosophy is completely different. The F-4 was originally designed as a high-altitude interceptor, the F-35 is a bomb truck. What matters is speed and range when carrying ordinance. As the F-35 is carrying most of its gear inside it is faster and more efficient under practical circumstances.
