I totally understand about the feeling of the stitch as I often don't look at my crochet while I watch a movie or YT, but I've been crocheting for a few decades! Loved your tips. My biggest tip to crochet faster & with less splitting of the yarn is to think about what hook works best for you. When I swapped from using aluminium hooks to using Clover & Tulip hooks everything changed about crocheting! I enjoyed it more, less splitting of yarn, faster crocheting & less stress on my fingers & hands with the ergonomic handles..... heaven! Worth every cent to have the more expensive hooks!🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨

Ah YES! Crochet hooks can make a HUGE difference. None has time for splitting yarn 😂

Eveeeen the material the hook is made of can matters, I fine I work better with metal hooks. When I use the clover plastic hook I split more.

I had to laugh that you came up with this very subject, because just recently my husband asked how I can crochet without looking. I know I do it, but never thought about the mechanics of it. You are right about the stitches just "feelin" right and I guess I go pretty fast. And it's with granny squares or C2C that I do it the most. Having clusters and a "space" to work in helps. I have crocheted since 1980, so I guess I have practice! Thanks for sharing! 💜

Hi Clare. Maybe the word you are looking for is “recreational.?” I have no desire to crochet fast. I just like to find a nice rhythm so it will help me relax. If I were doing it for work that would be another story entirely, lol. I hold my yarn just like you do. It flows freely. Same with knitting. I’ve always been intrigued by people who can crochet without looking. Maybe I’ll give it a go on a granny square. I don’t usually make granny squares these days but I’ve made plenty in the past. I found this video very helpful and informative. Thanks for sharing all your tips with us!❤

No por favor!!! Lo mejor de hacer crochet es poder relajarse haciendolo. No entiendo a las personas que se empeñan en hacer una carrera al tejer. Hay que disfrutar de la actividad y relajarse, es lo más bonito. 🥰
