Yrs ago I won a teip to Florida and they put us in a nice condo on a golf course. While walking one night, we saw alligators eggs right in the bushes next to the golf course. We went back to condo right away. This thing baffles me. I live in kansas and have always known alligators are in the water all over Florida. I have seen then along the side of the highway. Now you have anaconda, huge snakes and large lizards taking over. I used to want to live in Florida but no way would I now. I am no crocodile dundee. Poor lady should have known better, get her kids to mow for her.

I have never understood Florida’s tolerance of alligators in close proximity to populated areas. Marlene, the idea that alligators have priority over people by virtue of some “grandfather clause” is insanity. If a murderer moved into my neighborhood before me does that preclude his execution for a murder ? Murders are only doing what murders do.

Have you ever watched the animal planet show gator boys? They worked for the county or something like that and they were dispatched to remove nuisance gators humanely. They were in peoples pools, Yards, a restaraunts decorative pond. You name it. One of them was even in the persons fenced in yard. It had climbed over the chain link fence. The guy had pictures of it. It was an awesome show. And you learn a lot about gators and Florida.

Poor alligators, they did nothing wrong; just being alligators and they get removed and probably euthanized…. The lady was old, she lived a whole life. This is very easy to explain. If you decide to live in a community that is built near a pond or lake (or worse where man chooses to build a pond) with the full knowledge and understanding that YES.....alligators have lived (over 250 million years) , do currently live, and will continue to live in and near ponds / lakes.......well.....it is called assumption of risk. Of course it is awful what occurred. It is a tragic way to die. What is also a tragedy is: the community resident interviewed actually says "an aggressive alligator!" This is ignorance at its highest level. Many people who choose to live in these types of communities LIKE the fact that gators are in these ponds / lakes. Its simple: Dont touch the flame if you want to avoid getting burned.

The trapper walks around the shallow part where the gator rests sticking a pole with a rope attached into the ground. When he sticks the gator, it takes off into the pond and does it's "death roll" which is how they kill their prey. This results in it wrapping itself up in the rope. Then the trapper takes a boat to the floating, wrapped gator, grabs it and transports it to a gator "processing" facility in southern Florida. Know this because my neighbor had one get into his pond.
