Congratulations on the excellent video, I have the same model with a left crank, I ordered the bearings and carbon brake pads to improve drag and hold so many RPMs a little.

I had those same bearings put in 3 of my reels 2 5600 c3's an 1 Record 50 I had all the bearings replaced with Boca ceramic bearings the line guide an the other side bearings an i can't tell the difference on all 3 reels the record reel has been a problem reel ever since I've had it it's been gone thru 3 times even by abu Garcia or the company that owns Abu now. the 5600 reels there's no change in either of them. I was excited when I sent them to the reel tech Boca recommend by after getting all 3 back I'm gonna just save my money on the other reels I own.

Probably not because I seldom use the Abu's now. I almost exclusively use Penn Warfare 20 as I've started catching big cats and the Abu's just don't perform like the Penns. I would suggest you taking apart the reel, (lots of schematics online for you to follow) and grease and oil and re-assemble,. I still have all my old Abu's and feel like they'll give me years and years of service with a simple cleaning and oiling. Thank for watching!!

You know what, I did this video a few years a go and adding all the bearings sure did speed up the reel but a good cleaning and greasing is hard to beat. Thanks for leaving a comment!

Boca has the worm gear bearings and the side plate bearings if yours is a newer you can get a anti reverse bearing. If its a old one it has a clutch dog those will have some backwards play in the handel.

I also got a original 6500 Blue Yonder non level wind bone stock that I want to try abec 7 bearings its dumping 3/4 of the spool packed with 17lb line with 40lb shock leader on a 10'6" Century slingshot rod lazer shot it at a ball field 446yds

@@rangerbull No, I found out the reel was sold at Walmart. That's why it has the weird model number. It's a well made reel! Better than the newer ones. It's the exact same thing as a 5500 C3. I just got a new 6500 C3 and it has a plastic pawl cap and the worm bearing is not metal unlike the older 5500CL3

I put ceramic hybrid kit in my ambassadeur 5500cl rocket didn't help that much I got a old 69 model 5000 cast almost as far as it its got bronze bushings

If you have worn or underperforming worm gears for the line guide - no bearings are gonna help a noticeable amount. I mentioned that I had put worm gear bearings and a sideplate gear (that drives the line guide) to get the performance I got with this one. Thanks for watching.

By the way, the levelwind kit can be found here. www.mikesreelrepair.com/abu-dual-bearing-worm-kit-4000-6000/ The regular spool bearings are a nice upgrade, but the reel really becoomes a monster once you put the bearings on the levelwind and on the gear. I have a ABU 6500 CL Big game that I modified the same Boca in spool duel bearing level wind a bearing drive cog wheel and a ceramic level wind pawl its a screamer can only use mono no braid runs too fast for it

no way your reel spun 3 times like that with stock bearings...you also changed the line guide/worm gear AND left side cog....i bet with stock bearings you would get maybe 1 spin

Here's a stock bearing reel I did. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYLCi4Z8e52lpdk 90% of the performance of uprated bearings can be had if you use a little elbow grease. Very easy to do and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Use good lubes and don't be afraid to take a Dremel to the friction points.

Not worth the upgrade spool doesn't catch up with line guide and you end up bird-nesting every single cast sure it looks great and video but when you're out fishing with it it just does not perform the same as it does with the original bearings if you want an upgrade just take the Shield's off the original Abu bearings and all them up with the hot oil.
