Hi I was looking at MFED program. How are the job opportunities for Asian (Indian) students in Fashion and luxury management? also the course asks us to take the SDA test. It doesn't say anything about any other test like the GMAT or GRE. Can we get a U.K. work permit after graduation now that the U.K is out of the EU?

Hahaha what’s with the beer question? Do Americans not drink beer...? I’m genuinely curious as to why someone would think of asking that. Anyways, LOVED the video! You have no idea how much your videos have helped me! Thank you so much!

Hey, I'm really interested in going to Bocconi but I have a few questions: 1) How hard is it to learn Italian? 2) What's job prospects like after school? To get a job in Italy i presume you'll need to speak italian and places in the us (for banking/finance jobs at least) prefer people from us schools. 3) Is it difficult for a black person to really fit in in Italy? You'll obviously stand out but are people accepting of black people there?

Hi, Matthew! These are some good questions that I also considered while applying to Bocconi. 1.) Personally, I think it's very achievable if you're already familiar with another romance language (Spanish, French, Portuguese, Romanian). If you're not familiar with the language, it's totally okay! During the first month of school, Bocconi offers all freshman the opportunity to take crash courses in Italian. You'll learn the basics completely from scratch if you are 100% unfamiliar with it, or you can take a version of the crash course tailored for people who already know another romance language. Also, I made a video on how I learned Italian without taking any classes... feel free to check it out :) Additionally, I've found that most waiters/waitresses, store employees, and other workers near the Bocconi area of town speak English, so a lot of my friends who don't know Italian have survived with just English. 2.) Job prospects? Let's just say it's only October, and Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Amazon, and tons of other Fortune 500 companies have already visited Bocconi for recruitment assemblies. In Europe, a lot of students go to London (or somewhere else in the U.K.) to work for investment banks after Bocconi, and many others work at Swiss or German banks. As for the other courses, there are plenty of opportunities around the world, and many students go to America either for a masters degree or for a job. Personally, I think job prospects depend specifically on which major you choose, but in general, they are quite promising. 3.) Also a good question; there aren't many African-Americans at Bocconi, but I'm friends with some of them, and they love it here! Since Italy is fairly close to northern Africa geographically, there are some African-Italians here as well, so Italians have definitely seen Black people before :') I definitely think people are accepting here; people won't necessarily say, "oh, look, an African-American!" They're definitely more likely to say, "oh, look, an international student!" Above all, Italians are very welcoming people, and they're especially interested to see newcomers in their country. There's a really awesome youtuber named @Simply Fiasco who studied abroad at Bocconi. I recommend you check out her videos for more info on this topic! Let me know if you have any more questions. Good luck with your application! :)

Thanks a lot :) Bocconi is starting to become very alluring. I have a final question: How expensive is Milan compared to where you're from ?
@indepenndence694
@indepenndence694 6 жыл бұрын
Compared to Philadelphia, most things are actually less expensive in Milan (even if the conversion rate from euros to USD deems the euro more valuable)! Things are cheaper at the grocery store (except for meat, which is usually more expensive due to its higher quality), the dorms and apartments are reasonably priced (unlike American college dorms, which tend to be pricey regardless of the quality), transportation costs the same, and everything else is reasonably priced in my opinion! :)

Do we have bachelors of engineering in italy?
@indepenndence694
@indepenndence694 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's possible to obtain an undergraduate degree in engineering in Italy, and even in Milan! There are many polytechnic (politecnico) universities in Italy, and the one in Milan is called Universita Politecnico di Milano (PoliMi).

Hi, Lou! Bocconi doesn't offer meal plans, but there are three cafeterias on campus and tons of nearby places to grab a bite to eat.

Sorry to say but I was quite disappointed by the viewpoints you express in your video... I am Austrian and have studied in three different European countries so far. You seem to have little knowledge about studying in Europe, plus a very bigoted opinion about it. Sure, studying in Europe really differs from studying in the U.S., but the way you described the differences were in a way that really upset me (and probably also other Europeans)... It seems like your video was supposed to inform people (probably mainly other Americans) about studying in Italy, but you were not objective at all and your descriptions belittle the educational system in Europe. That is quite sad as so many Americans have a super close-minded view of the world and would for sure benefit from living and studying in other countries, but the way you "sell" your experience at Bocconi really does not help. Describing characteristics at Bocconi/in Italy or Europe in general as negative when they are simply different is really disappointing to me. If you see them as disadvantages you should have just gone to an American university instead of going abroad and then bashing your university and host country. Just because Italian universities don't offer that many dorms (did you seriously think a university in the most expensive Italian city (+ very close to the city center) can provide dorms to all students?! Most Italian students would not even want to live in dorms but in apartments anyways!) does not mean this is a bad thing, it's just different from America. Most European universities do offer lots of extracurricular activities, and they are often free (or at least really cheap) - maybe you just didn't know about them, but at all my universities in different European countries there were countless of opportunities offered. And just because universities often don't have campuses that doesn't make them "boring" - universities in Europe are not meant to "babysit" you for years like in the U.S. but are meant to make up just one part of your life. It's pretty ridiculous that for so many Americans, their personalities mainly consist of being a student at XYZ - do you not have any other characteristics you can identify yourself with?! Bocconi is one of the most expensive universities in Italy, and in most European countries, education is free. You may think that going to Bocconi is really cheap, but actually, American universities are just unreasonably expensive without being worth it...

Finally someone said it! I don't understand why they would think that when here you have to give your life to study for an exam since we don't have assays in italy and you have to study 300 or more pages. Also i was kind of surprised when she said about Italians knowing american tv shows or movies and politics. I don't know what they teach there but in italy we have to analyze different countries and know a little bit of everything. For example i studied economy and in the lectures the professor talked about the most important events of the moment in different countries.

donut know haha thanks for your comment, I was wondering if I reacted too extreme but I was honestly so upset about the whole video 😂 I also find it weird whenever Americans are surprised that we know stuff about other countries, and I love that we do! But it‘s kinda sad to realise that many Americans only learn about the US and then therefore often have a more narrow mindset about things :(
