You should consider that during these last few years winter in Milan is actually quite warm, believe it or not. Until 15 - 20 years in winter was quite usual to have below zero temperature for about a month even in full day. Not to mention intense snowfalls. Global warming...

Returning to America made me realize that Milan is comparatively a tropical paradise! My hometown dropped to negative ten degrees and lower *shiver*

Yes. Pratically in few years also North Italy climate has turned into subtropical climate, just like the climate of many southern USA states. As you can see even these year we haven't seen (yet) ice on the streets (or just a little quantity only at night and for no more then two days so far) and right in the middle of Winter, as we are now, the average temperature is quite high for this period.

Yeah, i guess "crepes" pronounced in the french way, as we italians correctly do, can sound a bit funny to americans. I would never taste a "crap" with gelato on it. For any amount. ^_^
