Emma I can always count on you to have the most grounded take on things. You know how to put things plainly and also describe things so perfectly and naturally. I just love how you can be like “these people are idiots, have fun” one moment and then describe something as “raw polish” the next. And it all flows together perfectly lol, it’s great, your reviews are top notch and I always trust your taste.

I went to see this on $3 movie nights and the theatre was packed. It really made for an enjoyable experience. If you want to escape into something silly this is a good one to do that with. It doesn’t take itself too seriously either. Also, the mystery element was done very well and that surprised me.

Saw it yesterday, so this video's upload moment could not be more perfect 🤩 I saw Orphan First Kill right before and although I enjoyed that one more, Bodies Bodies Bodies stayed floating around my head longer. I generally liked it, although the verbal fighting was acted so phenomenally, it got dragged out and annoying at certain parts. But when the reveal happened all the negative feelings were magically washed away and I thought it was so fun and well done.

The movie summed up a large issue that faces this generation and internet culture quite well: don’t make assumptions based off the first thing you see. Slow down and pair logic with communication, even while confronting something your passionate about or that is emotionally fueled, ya know? Funny and so so clever.

I saw this in the theatre opening night in the USA and had a lot of fun. This would be a great horror movie for people who are afraid of horror movies as it’s not gory and more silly if they can handle the annoying characters. Not to spoil anything, I knew the killer reveal right away and had a lot of other theories proven true. Despite this it was enjoyable and very cool looking.

I felt that as a satire of Gen Z the characters were too cliche to really land and it never really managed to ground their incomprehension in their self-absorption or their professed empathy as a mask for their own cruelty as a result. But as a black comedy murder mystery it really was fun. Also we call that game Murder in the Dark in the UK so was totally thrown by the title, whereas I guess Americans would have a heads up from it.

Quality horror flick this one, I agree with Emma that it’s a lot of fun. I just quite enjoyed the general plausibility of the whole setup which is missing from a lot of horrors. The game is very common in the United States, but I'm more familiar with it when it's called Mafia. In some variations, you have both a "murderer" and an "inspector"/"detective" character who has the job of catching the murderer. I think another name for the game is "werewolf," where instead of a "murderer" you have a "werewolf" who's supposed to turn everybody else into werewolves. So when Greg made werewolf sounds, I think he was trying to make a joke based on the name for the version of the game he was familiar with, [SPOILERS FOLLOW] but since none of the Gen Z'ers were familiar with that name for the game, he ended up spooking the women instead & it got him killed.

Late but love this movie -- I became kind of obsessed with it before it came out. To the point that I figured the ending out before I saw it 😅 I like that it's surprisingly genuine and nuanced in its exploration of (what a lot of people would call) cancel culture. (SPOILERS) Sophie's issues with addiction and even the girls' fear of an older stranger in their house are treated with empathy, even if everything spirals wayyyyyy out of control. The characters make stupid decisions but none of them, except maybe one, exist to be punchlines. I loved the intricate dynamics between the characters, and how that propels the narrative more and more as the film goes on. I started off a big Jordan fan but slowly felt worse and worse for Alice as everyone kept patronising her

The ending made the movie for me, i really enjoyed it. Spoilers : It's so funny how David's death was him trying to be like Greg (the ability to open the bottle with the saber) when in the beginning he kept antagonizing him, trying to be the "Alpha" but he was just insecure.

I thought it was great, it was an innovative take on the 'slasher' and the ending was FANTASTIC. Incredibly fitting. It fooled me, I did not see that coming. I can't wait to see it again on streaming. I think I'd disagree about it not having a take, cause I think it has a strong take on GEN Z and some 'types' of people that do exist in real life. This is a mirror holding up to a generation of kids growing up on the internet and having incredible trust issues because of internet bullying and kind of how being mean on the internet has real life consequences. I do agree that this movie has incredibly dark humor and it is funny, but I think it does have a strong message if you look past the ending, cause that ending does seem like it makes everything that happened meaningless, when I think that is the point.

I kind of feel that if you don't like this movie because you don't "get" the slang, how do you watch any horror movies from a different era? Don't they all kind of reflect what's relatable to young people at the time? It's one of the things I love about horror movies, how the archetypes are the same throughout the decades but they have to keep reinventing them to be trendy for each new generation of movie watchers. I loved how "2022" some of the dialogue was, it's like a time capsule to come back and watch in a decade or two.

I think when A24 had plans to make a murder mystery, they only wanted to add the gen z elements to make it seem original. Which I personally didn't really feel, just like you had said. Since it's a 94-minute film, I felt that there could have been a bit more tension with that atmosphere, so not really too scary for me. Anyway, great review Emma! The biggest horror for gen-z : the wifi goes down and you can’t access social media. If this would have been a Blumhouse movie I don’t think I would have fellt let down, but it beeing a A24 made me assume it would be something ”more” than it is. That’s not the movies fault. It’s an ok movie. Though : the suspense didn’t work at all for me, and I pretty much hated most of the characters - but some of the humor/satire made me laugh though.

I really liked it a lot. The ending was silly, but it goes to show how the real horror was the hidden contempt and mistrust the characters had for one another. Their relationships were purely built on drugs and partying, so the fact that Sophie being the only sober one nearly led to her being accused of murder is kind of genius.

This is a fun movie, but I think the ending is pretty predictable. I have anecdotal evidence to back this up. When I watched this film, halfway through, I thought I was clever for predicting the ending. It turned out I wasn't clever as first, I watched it with my girlfriend, and at the same exact part I figured it out, she said it outloud. Then I asked someone to watch the movie, and they told me they guessed the ending too. Still a good movie, but it has to be great in spite of the twist. Or rather, the unpredictability of the twist, as I think the value of the twist is it's commentary on the people involved.

I would have been mad because that's been way over done. Then I remembered it was A24 which are usually good about unusual twists. I was somewhat bored through the first half and annoyed at a lot of parts (I mean that whole mental health thing.... I was ready for Alice to die just to stfu) but that ending.... Wow lmao.
