The patina 1958 Vw Beetle revival continues as we get the car down to Larry's garage. Let's get the body square, weld in the body supports and prep the floor pan and heater channels for rust repair. Oh no….Did I turn my helmet on 😳😁 Those doors shut so much nicer, after jacking that up inside. I don’t trust my welds 🤦🏼‍♂️ Yeah that was sagging for a while. That striker plate was gouged. Wow!! I'm envious. I have a '63 that's just a little better than this but not by much. I knew I bought it with hopes my dad and I could work on it but I lost him a few years ago. I'm getting the urge to find a way to afford to pay someone to get the body work done. Hopefully something soon can happen. These guys are awesome for fixing this one.

Two Generations of VW rescuers here it seems. Love it. It makes me think about the future of our passion. I'm 54- what happens when Gen X fades out? We need Gen Z involved and younger. I don't want to see this hobby and these cars fade in 20 years. We (Gen X and older) have to mentor young people on these cars.

you are so fortunate to live in the USA where cars and replacement parts are reasonably priced. Here in Canada we cannot find any bodies or motors tthat are in good enough shape to rebuild nor any parts stores to sell us replacement parts to use. Love these rebuilds and the way Larry is showing you the proper procedures for each step along the way. Thanks for bringing us along.

I think i would have a different approach but it is well thought out to get door alignments. I would weld the doors to the quarters with 16 guage angle. And shore up deck lids same way pull body off chassis build chassis completely then fix body off chassis then put them together. There just so many patches, so better access i think. Its hard work actually

I am in the Larry camp as far as doing it right is concerned, I am a bit of a perfectionist. I also think you should paint it as it will look half finished without paint. Does not have to be a 'show stopper' but look quite good going down the road. That is my opinion of course I am not wanting to upset anyone. At least now the car is braced you know where to put your panels and she will be straight. Looking good Jason even if you feel that not much was done I think you did well. Thanks to Larry the teacher and for his help. 👍👍

Chase the threads and REWELD THOSE NUTCERTS on the channels.....They ALWAYS break off when you tighten the pans down. terrible welds on those from the factory. I drill next to each and reweld them otherwise it will get you later.
