Looking in a mirror or view finder isn’t necessarily body checking. Body checking is really only an issue for people with ED it’s an obsessive compulsion for people with active ED to constantly check their body for fat or perceived flaws which fuels the ED. The commenters are misusing the term.

Body checking is a clinical term to describe a behavior associated with eating disorders. Body checking (in my practice) is NOT glancing in the mirror to look at your self, outfit, tan etc. Body checking IS spending a significant amount of time (can be hours a day) checking, measuring, taking a LARGE amount of photos etc. it is a clinical term that we have now over used in media. Just like OCD, narcissistic etc.

From my understanding people took the term body checking and ran with it. The term was explained to me by my therapist years ago that harmful body checking looks like pinching your stomach to see if its bigger or smaller today, always measuring yourself to monitor your weight. However a simple look in the camera cant be considered body checking people are insane. If body checking is a trigger for you stop looking at other peoples bodies and comparing yourself thats your issue to work on

The reason Woman audiences "cancel" people more easily is because we feel a deeper more authentic connection to the influencers and podcasters we follow. So when influencers do something that we absolutely disagree with it affects us deeply and sometimes we can no longer follow or support them. On the flip side this is also what makes female audiences so loyal and supportive, and why influencing is such a lucrative career for women. When we like someone we trust what they choose to recommend and happy to support them and through the links and codes. It's two sides of the same coin, you can't have the loyalty and use the purchasing power of women, and then complain the you may be cancelled when you say or do something the majority of your loyal audience disagrees with.
