The compartmentalization of body fluids prevents hypovolemia, even after extensive sweating in the absence of drinking water. A great survival aspect of physiology.

It confuse me that you mentioned osmotic pressure is based on protein concentration. is not that supposed to be oncotic pressure? is not that osmotic pressure govern by gradient of solutes like na+? enlight me pls, thank you...gr8 teachings anyway

great explanation Dr.John 1.in animals we use skin turgor test to asses the dehydration level of body .because as you said loss of water from interstitial fluid makes the skin less elastic so if we pull the skin it stands same in dehydration more than 5% if not comes back to normal texture.how do we asses dehydration level in humans.

Yes, we also this in humans, but also look for oliguria and the colour of the uine as it becomes more concentrated. In infants look for sunken fontanelle.
