I SO Agree, Girl! I am 59 and I don't really drink Anymore and I LOVE Wine but I have just Lost my enjoyment of it. I also used to go out and have a Cocktail but it makes me feel Awful and I can't stand How I feel after I have a drink..I am DONE!!!
@deldridgСағат бұрын
Well, I'm 57 and am almost exactly in the same boat as you. I also love wine, have a wonderful collection of mostly Australian reds, and until recently (8 months ago), would often have a glass or two with dinner, most nights. Now, I would have less than 1 drink per fortnight as more often than not, even a single drink leaves me feeling terrible the next morning. Bit sad but simultaneously, good news as like you, I've also lost my enjoyment of it. Probably better for us in the long run!

This really explains why people who are "alcohol dependent" get angry and violent when they can't have their drink - they miss the dopamine and serotonin that they are addicted to! Thank you Jessie for this very informative explanation.

There's a persistent level of advertisements for Anti-Spike in this episode, almost as bad as when you watch KZbin without ads! I'd order it if the only option wasn't a monthly subscription - I didn't go through it as fast as they send it to you, and it's incredibly difficult to cancel or adjust the delivery date of the supplements.
@MICHAELLASSO-j8e2 сағат бұрын
Lol, actually, the AntiSpike subscription really helped me. I took it every day, and over a few months, I went from having type 2 diabetes to normal glucose levels and my doctors was SHOCKED 😄 I’m not sure I would’ve been as consistent without the subscription keeping me on track. Guess it’s different for everyone, right? 😅

I agree. This is the only part that makes Glucose Goddess a little bit untrustworthy to me. That at the end of the day you can eat whatever as long as you take the pill..yeah...no! I loved the book and its message but this Anti-Spike business really defers me from trusting this woman. At the end of the day it is all about money, not health and this somehow strikes me.

Thank you for this information. I appreciate the way you explain things in a way that is easy to understand. I have recently become aware of some of these truths about what alcohol does to the body and brain. As a consequence, I quit drinking completely. January 20th marked one year of sobriety. I feel great!

If consumed in a bar, the laws of science will be suspended and alcohol will not hurt you. But once you step outside, it will. But if you stay inside the bar, you will inevitably continue to drink. Catch 22.

This doesn’t make sense to me. If the liver is busy with the alcohol and has no resources to process blood sugars then we should see a higher spike not a reduced one, right? What am I missing? Also, how does your science coexist with cardiovascular studies? We’re being told moderate red wine consumption is good for the heart.

It has been difficult for me but then this last month as I went back to eating sugar like I was before but still haven't gained the weight back so I'm still going to keep trying to reach my goal of 150. I do have a question, can activated charcoal help release the toxins in your body after you drink alcohol?

Interesting study with the vodka - but who would drink 300mls of strong alcohol in 30 mins? - this doesn't really represent normal drinking. It would be much more helpful to show the impact of the 1 glass of wine that the discussion commenced on - very misleading. Alcohol undoubtedly has bad effects but we need to not present misleading information which then casts doubt on all the other information.
@Tha_don582 сағат бұрын
..but this is the study that has been done by scientists that she has access to. She's referring to it to explain what alcohol does. The idea is that alcohol cruises across the blood brain barrier and wreaks havoc regardless of amounts. Common sense says the more alcohol the more the effect. Why don't you go to find research that actually fulfills what you need and bring it rather than criticize, just saying.

The myth of French Alcohol paradox started when the american did a study that French eats higher fat contents than their american counterpart and yet the level of cardiac problem is less, so from that study american concluded that the paradox is due to French taking wine on their meal. Because american standard nutrition believes that saturated fat causes heart disease so it is impossible for them to accept the higher fat content on french food causes less heart disease and alcohol is acceptable explanation for them for French to have a better heart health! RFK Jr will change that belief! MAGA!

Culture. Smoking became culturally unacceptable and businesses don't want to zone their stores, restaurants for Smoke or Non-Smoking. That hurts business and sales. Culturally drinking is not as disruptive for business because it doesn't have as many public issues with interfering with business. Drinking can also increase sales for people buying more things and foods. Sooo...I don't think any trends for big leagues are gonna start preaching the dangers of Alcohol
