I don't mean to sound morbid or disrespectful, but what is the process for removing the deceased, how are they taken to the surface for a proper burial when found? I can not imagine having to do the job you do bringing bodies to the surface, I pray you do not relive these moments but reap the benefits of knowing you are bringing a love one home for their family! Hi Greg. After the bodies were retrieved they were taken by the coast guard and brought to a freezer in a near by fish market to be stored. The victims families we’re always in my mind during the dives. I remember in one of my videos I grabbed I think a red bag near the main entrance and looked at the passengers name. I though oh my this must be the bag of one of the victims. Thankfully, when I checked after the dive the owner survived the sinking. There were lots of bags and luggages at the muster areas. Many of the passengers must have brought it with them and left them when abandoning the ship. I’m surprised they were still in the same area despite the ship sinking. Thanks again for watching.

Hi, I read your comment and I’ve attached a link to another video of these divers. I don’t know if you’ve seen it or not, but you can see with the one victim how he was raised to the surface. To me it’s looks like they’ve attached some sort of buoy, or inflatable device to the body. The video is very respectful of the victims and their families, so although they’re dealing with a deceased person the video is not exploitive. I can’t imagine how difficult this job must’ve been for these divers, and what level of inner strength they must have to be able to even do this. But they did it with much respect and dignity. For me that example showed that never write anyone totally off, if a rescue can be safely attempted preferably by people who have the training and skill to do so- then try, cause you just never know who might still be alive, I know though that sadly at times- its just not possible to even attempt a rescue and one can make their peace with that as rescuers have to be so careful because they know a lot of cases exist where other rescuers have lost their own lives trying to save others.

I once worked in a cruise ship and we had safety drills almost every 2 weeks...when I stopped, i came back here in the Philippines and one of my friends invited me to apply for a local ferry... i asked her how General drills went to have an idea of how it was done compared to the ship where i worked before... and what she told me shocked me.. apparently some key officers go down for shoreleave even though there was an ongoing general drill... Another time, i was onboard a local ferry and about the time of departure, i kept hearing squeaking noises. Usually when the ship departs, the Captain or some official would announce that the ship is departing... but i didn't hear any of that... just squeaking and some more squeaking... i kept looking at my watch and asked a fellow passenger what time we were to depart and she said, we already departed... and i asked why there was no announcement... she said there was but the PA System was apparently faulty... She was a native of the island which i visited and a regular passenger of the ship... for her to know that it was faulty told me a bit of how that has been faulty for quite awhile... I just think that these "little faults" or if i may say negligence causes unnecessary loss of lives... i hope shipping companies try to be stricter in terms of safety... In an environment where anything could happen, Drills and correct safety practices matter a great deal because it eliminates panic. If people know what to do, it would become routine for them if a true emergency arises... Equipments and communication systems should also be inspected every time the ship sails.

Cruise ships are a future disaster...Sadly I predict w will collide in the Ocean or one go down trying to get survivors from another somewhere rescue is hours away. There are just too many people that control your Fate on cruise ships for me to ever feel comfortable on one..I would rather be sailing the high seas in my sailboat and in control of my Destiny with preparation, seamanship, and patience to wait for good weather than be placed jn a potential Battle Royale of 3000 passengers and 800 crew

I don’t know if EMDR is a thing in the Philippines but if you or anyone you know is struggling with PTSD try to search a therapist who practices it, it’s the only method which cure PTSD. I went through a year of EMDR therapy myself after going through sexual abuse during years while young and my husband also did a lot of sessions after his return from Middle East (French Military) and it saved us and still help us greatly when we have some difficult periods with our PTSD coming back. Stay strong and take care of yourself, you have a heart of gold and mind of steel to do this job and I send you all of my respect for that. I wish you the best for your future. The best advice is to get your life jacket and follow the instructions of the crew. It is usually not a good idea to leave the ship unless there’s no other option. Unless crew tells you otherwise go to where your assigned muster area is, that may not be the top deck.

Couldn’t the divers stop that leakage considering it was shown quite clearly where the leak was coming from? You could fully see the leak coming out from a particular point of the ship.. again what an extraordinary job from the divers and an extremely daunting job overall. They are difficult to see and when they show one they only show it for about one second. If they show these videos they should at least let us get a good look at what we're curious to see. I'm surprised that the divers didn't have much protection from the many, many pieces of rotting tissue floating in the area around the victims bodies. It looks like it must get everywhere on a diver and most of them are so exposed with just the breathing piece in their mouths, most didn't have even gloves or a good snug hood to keep things out of ones hair and away from the face.

I worked on a massive cruise ship. My ship split a Cuban freighter in half . Radar on the cruise ship was turned off and the freighter was being monitored by sight alone. Cruise ship rammed them, sliced it right through.😠😠 I ran up to the bridge and shouted " Drive much ????". Jesus Christ, that was preventable. I blame it on the cruise ship, the freighter was dead in the water having technical difficulties. Still, I BLAME it on the cruise ship. Navigating like a darn 2 year old...😡😠😵😵 3 onboard the freighter died that day, their bodies were not recovered, the rest were rescued and brought on board our ship. Thus was PREVENTABLE.

Wait a minute, I don't get how they are saying that they can't recuse any survivors from that depth if there were any, that's not true at all! The ship is only sitting in 100 ft. of water, and there could be survivors if there was a big enough air pockets for them to breathe! But the problem is that any survivors would have been in water all that time, they would have been without food and water for two weeks, so yes, it's highly unlikely that anyone would have survived, but it's not impossible like they are saying, you'd be surprised what people can do when they have a strong will to survive! I'm a certified Scuba Diver, I was certified back in 1986 by Scuba Schools International through Scuba Hut in Glen Burnie MD, and I've been 100 ft under water. I was sitting on the bottom of a rock quarry at 100 ft, the water was crystal clear, but at that depth the water was cold as hell! Lol

The problem was that any survivor would have been saturated with nitrogen. The only way to extract a survivor without killing them would have been to transfer to a diving bell and decompress over 48 hours. No such equipment available or the divers would be using it. I have worked with Philopine Navy divers. Very professional and fearless.

@@spayce3354 There'san instance of a guy surviving about 3~ days or so around that depth if i remember right. Smaller personal ship that'd capsized and sank bottom up, they found him in the air pocket at the bottom (now top) of the ship. Absolutely though by a week, they're all dead, let alone two. Unless they have a large pocket, and clean water, and food. Well, of course too deep and you get the Titanic. Air pockets throughout for hordes of people trapped inside. Annd once it got a certain depth, the ship's stern exploded from the pressure on the air.

Yes, many sunken ships have been refloated and repaired. But there are many factors that determine whether it happens, including: how much and what kind of damage the ship has, how deep it is, the currents and traffic in the area, the value of the ship and whats in it, politics, etc. etc.

Have you ever been out on the ocean at night? Clearly not. It is not like the light of the city you live in. It is pure, natural darkness. Even with light, it’s very hard to make out things, judge direction, or distance. This was an avoidable accident, but please know that spotting things out on the open ocean when it’s pitch black, even with light is very hard.

This is the happend in the tragedy involved the thomas aquinas and sulpicio container seven In 9pm the captain of aquinas saw an ship to there navigator radar and the captain now saw the ship in the window of pilot room and the captain tried to call the captain of sulpicio in radio but the captain of sulpicio didnt response and many moments after the captain of 2go tried to call the sulpicio the collision now begins to happend and the sulpicio container seven stabbed the port side of mv aquinas and after the crashing of sulcon siete in aquinas the sulcon is reversed the ferry in farter location because of crews and captains scared to the involving of sinking and the aquinas picked an big impact crack and hole and the water starts to enter the aquinas’s inside decks and the aquinas was now tilting at the scary times and 11 minutes after the crashing the aquinas was now sank off at the sea and the aquinas was now sinked due to big impact in port side and the ship sinked in the depth of 150feet and the sulpicio container seven also picked an huge damage and crack in the front of bow area and the sulcon siete is lucky they didnt sink just haved and big damage in bow and the aquinas was sank now many minutes after the collision the pcg rescue team starts to begin the rescue for survivors of aquinas and the survivors is 700+ persons and they say is more than 80 persons was missing and not found and they say its 800+ persons was the passengers of aquinas listed in manifest of the ferry and the confirmed dead in mishap is 116 persons but now in year 2020-2021 the missing aquinas passengers was now just 21 and the last found person is in the august 4 2020 that the person was on debris and found in tight and mini cabin of aquinas because of the technical civillian divers that body was found and he was victim#73 and lets back to the story of collision in tomorrow of aug 17 2013 after the collision of two ships in aug 16 yesterday the pcg and ph navy started the search and recovery operation and they found more than 40 to 60+ passengers in following days and weeks the impacted point of the aquinas underwater was called of divers as “IMPACT AREA” and the impact area was huge impact and crack because its rammed by sulcon siete owned of philippine span asia carrier incorporated and the search and rescue was tooked and created on started in august 17 2014 to september 8 2013 and lets go back at the starting of the tragedy the captain of mv st thomas aquinas was called the station of philippine coast guard in the talisay city cebu station and the coast guard official named winiel azcuna received the call from the captain of mv st thomas aquinas and the captsin was asking for some help because they cant call and communicate the sulpicio cargo seven but the philippine coast guard was too late and failed to help them because the collision was now begin to happend

Survival in a fast sinking like this depends a great deal on the the ship design and if there is a chance that voids could be filled with air that could sustain life and if you can get into where a survivor might be without actually killing them. My understanding is that this ship went down very quickly which meant it was taking in water very rapidly and that usually means lack of water tight compartments or the doors to the each areas were not closed at all times. Given the amounts of debris at all of the doors and hatches further proves that they were open as water was able to rush in and force air and debris along until the debris became packed at the doors and hatches further pushed along by pressure due to the depths. The combination of such total flooding, debris sweeping passages and the added pressure as the vessel sank there was probably no chance of a void that retained enough air to breathe until rescue and it would have been a miracle that a void like that would have been close to even one survivor. Added to that anyone alive as the ship sunk rapidly would have had to deal with the pressure at the depth that without the right gear, unless they were specially trained and knew how to free dive to that depth would not have stood a chance or survived long enough to get out and back to the surface or have found a void to survive in. Had it capsized but stayed a float, in that case there might have been a reasonable chance their would be survivors and worth looking for them and bringing in special people that do successful live survivor rescues. And from what I have read of the documentation of the body retrieval as well as the videos there was not any sign that any body found had survived for any longer then a very few minutes as the ship went down. Professional at retrieval and underwater investigation can tell by where they find the body and the position it was in if they had lived long enough try and escape or had found a way to survive but were not rescued and nothing points to that at all. And had there been even one survivor that survived the rapid sinking and the pressure factors, you have to remember that to survive more than a few hours one has to have a space large enough to have enough oxygen in that space to last long enough, because there us no recycling the CO2 a survivor is breathing out or renew the O2 that they breath in. Plus had anyone been found and the area accessible either by clearing debris to swim through passage ways to get to him or having to cut through walks or hull, the minute you open that area up, without major equipment that can maintain the space intact for the survivor, he won't survive a rescue attempt to get to him, let alone the tedious and dangerous trip back to the surface also being difficult to survive. Many a submariner who lived through damage that put the ship on the ocean floor and had survivable air etc until time to leave for the surface will tell the stories of seeing tha majority of crew members die trying to make it to the surface or after they dud by panic and coming up too fast, while other wise being unhurt and healthy before leaving via an escape hatch. This was a horrid tragedy that we now know could gave been avoided, loss of life that never should have occurred, but I am very confident from what I have seen and heard that all was done to rescue the living and it quickly was nothing more than a recovery mission once the ships hull was out of sight under water. No one lost their lives because of a wait to organize a good team that could document, gather evidence and retrieve souls.

I don't think they waited two weeks. There had already been other crews doing this recovery. This crew on the video were just taking their turn. They have to rotate the crews because it's too much for just one crew to do it all.

Hi. Last time I heard none. It’s located at the entrance of a major shipping lane and would disrupt the area. It’s deep enough to not be a danger to any ship. There was a recent typhoon in the area and there are many large ships that sunk in the shallower parts. Those will probably be salvaged.

No disrespect, but you sure can find a survivor in those depths…they had a rescue not to long ago where a man was in a sunken vessel and survived by an air pocket until rescue divers came..they all were shocked and you can find that video here on youtube
