If this was in aus, the prics dropping in would get a good yell or punch... (not being tough) but surf etiquette is a must. First time mistake, second guys in trouble. plus the barrels you could've pulled into were ace, felt bad every time you had to paddle back out for nothing. Great vid though!

May be a dumb question but why do surfers and boarders go leash-less at the wedge?
@jeremythellman64737 жыл бұрын
William Kampert the waves form close to shore so when the wave closes out you are already at the sand and getting your board isn't hard and when it gets bigger they don't want to be pulled by their board underwater after they get pitted.
@keeganlad7 жыл бұрын
So you can ditch the board and not get sucked around with it
@MoustacheCloud6 жыл бұрын
Plus, the waves are so turbulent, your board turns into a helicopter underwater. You don't want to be anywhere near that thing.
@marcistrash95786 жыл бұрын
A final reason is that when you crash the leash can get caught around you. One time I could of nearly died because when the wave crashed my neck leg and arm were tied toghther and i had to try to get out before drowning.
@jacksonangus-alldridge52166 жыл бұрын

I am currently tight on money so I am planning to buy a boogie board to later on save for a surf board? Is this a good idea and I have never surfed in any form before but I am a hardcore skateboarder so I hope I can improve soon as possible.
@ax10yz2327 жыл бұрын
I say go for it; while they're very different techniques, at least you'll be learning about how waves work and how to catch them, while also building up some form of paddling strength. Bear in mind though that skating, while seeming similar, is actually very different to surfing (coming from someone who has done both), so don't expect to progress faster in surfing simply because you might be a great skater.

To get a better shot of the barrel and make the angle of view vertically higher instead of wider set your Gopro to either 1440 (BEST Quality), 960(Good), and I think 720 (not for sure about 720 but definitely the first 2) . Iv missed so may barrels from making the lens wider (Horizontally) which cuts out the top of the FOV(field of view) by setting it to things like 1080 and 1080 superview, which are great but not so much for surfing. Also when you make the FOV longer instead of wider you can stretch it out in GP Studio to give it that fuller/wider look but now you have the full barrel in view. You know you deeeeeep though when you can see the chandelerin front of you when your its set at 1080/ wide view. cheers

The wedge looks like the spot where I grew up in Brazil although the swells don't get enormous. If someone cuts you like that he slapped by everybody else. That's the problem in crowded spots, no more locals to maintain a certain order and respect. I know that locals can be idiotic sometimes but generally is for the best. Somebody from elsewhere that comes to our spot has to be positive minded and cool.
@Surfssmallwaves7 жыл бұрын
Mike when you're in there getting wrecked on basically dry sand, do you hold the GoPro to keep it from getting ripped from your mouth? I've filmed (or tried) on some bigger days in LI and pulling into a closeout sucks because the thing gets ripped out (not looking to lose a tooth or something).
