I agree with your analysis on this. He's painting the perfect life and painting the picture of him as the good guy all the time. The auto-tune use emphasises the false sense of perfection. Nobody is perfect though, as he goes on to say. He doesn't even trust himself not to lie to himself. Such a clever and sweetly scathing condemnation of the false image that we're all encouraged to create.

I see “Lügen” as a crisisism of facebook / Instagram Where People put up “their perfect life” but behind their statusupdates life is not so perfect. The use of autotune is a critisism of pop Music Where the use of autotune is a “norm” Where People who cannot sing gets a career or one hit to make loads of money, is straight up laughing true artists in their face

The fact that the autotune kicks in when he sings "Ich belüge sogar mich / I even lie to myself" is oh so perfect

Meanwhile I've watched a bunch of your reactions, and I really like that you are brave enogh to let your emations flow, but as well smart enough to implement some really good and brilliant ideas of what it could be all about, I really appreciate that. Rammmstein always offers lyrics with high impact of symbolism and hints, including invitations for interpretations, much room for that. Stay healthy and tuned, be good ;-).

Always, when I hear this song, I have to think about a politician (e.g. Karl Lauterbach) looking in the mirror speaking to himself... and I like the imagination that something like that was Rammstein's inspiration. :)

He sings with autotune the words: "I even lie to myselfe". I think he did it because if you use autotune you kind off lie about your own voice. Thats my interpretation.

I think you grasp half of Tills "mind project" when writing the lyrics. That's a bit less than I grasp and much more than 90% of the listeners. By the way I'm German, I'm as old as Till and born in East Germany too. You're a smart young man, keep up the great work! I would say many things are faked, lies or painted over with bright shining colors.

It´s my favourite song from the new album. I like your theory about criticism against social media, but I kind of saw a deeper meaning in the text. It´s more a description of something everyone does (everyone lies a little to himself or to society, some more, some less), than a criticism against something specific like social media. But it´s always about what one personally takes away from the song, and if that´s your take, that is alright.

I interpret this song to be from someone who's always lying to everyone around them telling them that they're working on themselves in an effort to hide the truth. when he says the truth comes to light anyway, I see that to mean this person, who hasn't changed, is still in the same situation in life and ten or twenty years later, everyone around them notices. although this person is lying to everyone else, they're also lying to themselves. and, eventually, even they don't believe themself anymore.

Sometimes I just write a song and people tell me what it means to them...I am so dumb that I don't realize what I am saying, or more importantly, how it will affect the minds of others. For years I never understood why people laughed when I refered to improvising as doing shit on the fly.

Hey man! I think you haven't reacted to "mein Herz brennt" (my heart burns) yet. This is one of their absolute bangers! On a level with Sonne, Mutter, du hast, Engel etc. And there's a normal version and a quiet piano version...check them out in that order (1. normal, then piano). Cheers!

Just discovered you and your videos, I really enjoy the content! I have a theory that the autotune symbolizes when truth is finally being spoken and seems to match up with my understanding of the lyrics. Some say it’s a critique towards the other side German music industry. Because all those perfect fantasies have been topic of some songs of other german musicians. But Rammstein knows some of these musicians and they have seen them aside the stage and they know that they only print totally false pictures. But your theory does make also sense. Maybe even more.

Walking barefoot on the beach Looking up at the starry sky Laying down in green meadows Walking in the rain Listening to classical music Belonging to you forever Have many, many children And love you forever I never swear, I am very faithful Sleeping, sometimes in the hay Always breakfast to the bed Cooking without fat at all times Writing a lot and also thinking Giving away my heart and soul To someone who is worth it And when I'm gone I miss coffee and cake on Sundays And visit grandmother Lies, all lies I lie and cheat I even lie to myself, no one believes me Nobody trusts me, not even me I'm notorious, not healing I only promise, I don't speak anything But I really have to hurry The truth will come out anyway I'm good at deception, have a lot of patience And whoever believes it is their own fault Everyone lies, but I do much more I don't believe myself anymore Lies, everything lies I lie and cheat Yes , I even lie to myself, nobody believes me Nobody trusts me, not even me Not even me

We should be careful to conflate the lyrics with Till's inner life too much, but I do think he's also talking about himself here. He's been known to have been in different relationships in the past few years, and he does not seem to be the most reliable partner. So I think the lying and cheating bit could be talking about himself. Also that he even no longer believes himself.
@nyoodmono46812 жыл бұрын
It reminds me of 'Angst' and these upright-citizens, not so much of the media aspect though. To me 'Lügen' is about the everyday lifes and lies of good or average situated people, always be positive, always be functioning, visit the grand ma, love you forever. Truth is all this is fake, all this bores them to death and yet there will always be that social peer pressure, making them cowards and lie to themselfs never speak out the truth, always hurry, never time to get real, never doing something alive, something wild.
